No company wants to sink their dollars into a city that's as unfriendly to businesses as Venezuela. If the city wanted the event to generate the revenues they were expecting they shouldn't be sabotaging it at every turn. Looking forward to the 35th America's Cup in San Diego.

Venezuelans may be poor but at least they are guaranteed a roof over their heads with running water and sewers supplied by the local governments, free building materials placed by the roadside with do it yourself plans and six dollars a day minimum livable wage, that was in 1988.

Our municipalities are suffering financially. Do we really know how this is going to affect the economy of SF and the Bay Area. While it is true that Larry Ellison has helped a lot of charities do progressive acts he has also benefited as well because of who he is. I think it is fair to ask him to carry most of the load. Oracle has done very well.

32 m for Larry but 1.00 dollar each or less from each Californian. This is capitalism he has a right to save any dollars he can. There is a plus side to this as he is bringing tourism to San Francisco perhaps 150,000 people who will spend at least 500-1000 dollars each; that's $75,000,000-150,000,000 to the local economy. This is a win win situation so stop quibbling about 32M.

With the way the economy is and the increase in poverty and homelessness we need all the help we can get. And are we sure of these numbers?

Perhaps they could make an equal trade: San Francisco foots the bill for the race, Larry Ellison foots the bill for San Francisco's public schools for 10 years. While you can't measure the value of fun in dollars, this trade would come close to being fair, and somebody would come out of it a hero.

There are lots of people who donate to various causes, but don't get taxpayers dollars to support their ventures. Same should go for building sports arenas - let the owners absorb the costs. No one helped me build my business.

Sailing is not just for the ultra rich, but I'm sure some of them will be enjoying watching the America's Cup Races in San Francisco as well as the typical Joe Blow sailor sailing a J-24 on the bay or some kid sailing an El Toro in a summer sailing program for at risk kids. You don't have to be rich to sail, that is a total myth. I teach sailing to just regular kids in Kona Hawaii, and if their parents can afford the nominal cost, we have a scholarship program. You don't have to be rich to sail, that is a total myth. I teach sailing to just regular kids in Kona Hawaii, and if their parents can afford the nominal cost, we have a scholarship program. I talk to the kids about the A cup and show them the cool pictures of these high tech racing machines. I'll be there in the fall of 2013 spending my tourist bucks watching the AC racing on my favorite city by the bay. The improvements to the city front will reap many kinds of benefits, (including financial) for many years to come, especially if the Cup stays in SF.

If he has that much money he can pay for the race himself, then next tax season he can cheat on his taxes and get his money back. Every one like him deserves to loose everything he has for expecting those who have less to pay for his fun. Rich people and politicians are as useful as a used kleenex
