Private tenants who claim housing benefit have always been paid according to the amount of rooms they need - not the amount of rooms they have. Private tenants receive less benefit than those in council houses anyway but are having benefits cut again so they receive even less. Even with the new bedroom tax, people in council housing/housing association homes will be paying less than a private tenant. I'm disabled and rent privately because there are no council houses. My housing benefit has decreased already as has my council tax benefit. When they inevitably take away my DLA to meet their targets, I will be up shit creek. I don't agree with the new reforms BUT I think that people in social housing don't realise that it is much worse if you have to rent privately.

I have to rent privately too,as nothing available, but every time myself and disabled husband move, social services keep saying you need to move again, meanwhile the council says we have nothing for you,and as cannot get a gaurantor anymore, have to look for the needle in the haystack where we are allowed to live,we only get approx 50% of our rent for years, despite needing more space due to disability,if you wish to make changes, join our Modern Mangers face book group

There's no smaller council houses for people to move into and the government KNOW THIS?? Why isn't there enough council house's to rent anyway! I'll tell you WHY the TORY GOVERNMENT sold off millions of council house's in the 80's on the cheap, Reason they were buying VOTES for the future. And people can't see the wood for the trees.

Typical Tory action. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Perhaps David Cameron would like to try living on my money. He wouldn't last a day.!

Can someone please tell me how the Windsor pensioners of Buckingham Palace are going to contribute for all their spare bedrooms in their first, second, third,........ homes? Not a penny I guess. How can the government justify not charging them just because of their genetic background? In addition to this, the inflated pensions of the country's biggest scrounger family should also be cut, along with their private health bills....... rant over
