not signing these stupid bag bans.....stupid reaction instead proaction....never should have been allowed to produce them to begin with. don't use them. period. but what about the produce bags still available in grocery stores that have bag bans? How about all the people getting ecoli and salmonella from their reusable bags cuz they don't wash them?? Ban those too...

Simple answer really. Charge people a few cents per bag instead of giving them away. You would be very surprised at how quickly you start to see fewer and fewer in the trash!!! Here in Portugal some supermarkets charge for throw away bags - (all plastic bags here have to be the bio-degradable type anyway, and it is fancinating to see just how fast they crumble into tiny fragments after a really short time,) and people seem to have really caught on to the concept big time taking their won...

In South Africa too some of the major supermarket chains are also charging for plastic bags and it is also amazing to see there how rapidly the ubiquity of plastic bags blowing in the wind has become. Still far too many but at least forward momentum...... Great idea folks...!!

One way to stop the proliferation of plastic bags would be to charge for them. Just a 25 cent charge would make a lot of people remember to bring their own bags.All of this could go to help recycling projects.

but, they're recyclable! we save all of ours and bring them back to Stop and shop and put them in their recycle bin.

Single use plastic is recycled into waste pipes which continue to off gas these chemicals, but only into the septic systems that eventually still reach consumption.
