I'm not sure about the President, but I am sure about the congress and senate. Not only should their salaries be radically reduced, but their terms of office should be max of two terms, all their perks should be cut out and they should have to pay into their own healthcare, just like the rest of us. Their retirement should be taken away, since they're doing that or helping big business take all of ours a way.

Yea makes sense NOT-the pres alone pays millions to get a "job" that doesn't give back anything financially close to that cost.

Keith Wurster The Campaign Funds that they use to run for office is donations and fund raisers; very little comes out of their pockets. The regulations on campaign funds is strict but they manage to break those laws as well.

I believe the president is acting more like a dictator to the people instead a servant to the people.....The people put him in office and the people can take him out of office .....

Yes, give them nothing, nothing, nothing. To serve should be a sacred honor and trust never to be betrayed or exploited for personal gain. "The Greatness of a City is not in the Height of its Buildings but in the Character of its people."

How about they get Social Security just like their constituents, modest benefits based on years employed and max's out after healthy salary mark -- then invest their own $$ to secure a lucrative retirement. How is that their families receive so many benefits for education, etc. as well?? Put it toward the out-of-control deficit !!!

Not only should their salaries be cut but the WH budget (if they have one..) should be cut as well. IF the first family wants to go on vacation then they need to pay for it themselves just like we do.

Amen Geraldine every time air force one fly's it cost $180,000.00 per hour to fly, why should the tax payers pay for the President and family vacation's, The Senate and congress is time for term limits and when they are through they do not keep on getting health care and a pay check. The same with the President why should he get a pay check the rest of his life health care and secret service men, No other job in the world does this and they have forgot it is a job the people put them there...

What happen to the words For the people by the people in the constitution. It is time like back when there was farmers, businessmen, regular people in the Senate and Congress, instead of high paid Lawyers that become Millionaires when or after they are in the Government.

Beside taking 2 plane for a vacation is way too much expensive for taxpayer money. Excessive vacationing, that;s all the President does, if not going on vacation, he is out there campaigning, why not stay in the white house and meet with congress and senate to solve US debt and forget about raising more taxes.

Vickie Williams : Neither of the Bush Presidents took a salary or benefits; neither did their spouses. That's a fact. They did have security but that is understandable with the position.

Vickie Williams: They should ALL lose their presidential salary once they are out of office, starting with all who are still receiving salaries and continuing with the rest. All of them are wealthy as it is, so they don't even need it. Why should the taxpayers have to keep on paying them, when most can't even support themselves.

Vickie.... No we certainly did NOT pay the same for Bush's vacations. Ovomit and Moochelle have taken numerous exotic, extravagant vacations. The Bush's vacationed at the family home, Camp David and maybe even enjoyed different spots in Europe while ON OFFICIAL BUSINESS. This atrocity of a 1st family, has abused the vacation rights at the cost of OUR TAX DOLLARS.

Salaries of members of Congress should be no more than the mean average in their Congressional District. Senators should be the mean average of their State. President Salary should be the mean average of the Nation. Benefits should be what the average american has and retirement should be a 401K not a pension. Then we will see how the economy really grows!

You know Walter, I believe that is the best solution I have heard yet! That should be the opinion poll we should do, as well as, a petition to go viral!!! Please, if someone knows how to do this I would be more than happy to sign it. Many of my friends would also! Let's do it!!!

Yes the entire senate and the congress and for sure the President. It is obvious that they get to much with all the vacation time and wasting of the tax payers money.

I could not have said it better Deb! Our politicans have been robbing us blind for decades and it's about time something is done. Term limits is a start, the President can only serve two terms, why should the rest be able to stay for life? They are wealthy and have the money to pay for their own families benefits. No one is helping pay for mine!

By all means, their salaries, president and all the rest of the fat cats should be reduced especially the millions the President spends on his vacations for all his family all paid from us hard working taxpayers. I don't understand why the taxpayers pay for his family's vacations, we didn't elect them to office.

Obama gave himself a raise of over100,000 a year, bringing the president's salary to about half a million. Combine that with the BILLION per year he and his wfe spend of tax payer money on their vacations, staff, fancy parties, and clothes, I would say YES all their salaries should be reduced.

We also need to look at the benefits they gave themselves. We, the taxpayers, are paying their salaries - we're basically their bosses. I've never had a boss that let me decide what perks I should have.

You've gotten raises?? We haven't gotten one in over 3 years?? Our Health Insurance just upped it's out-of-pocket costs and my husbands employer decided to shut down instead of pay out the nose for Obamacare. Meanwhile....back at the ranch....we get to pay taxes next year on any Health Insurance paid costs by our employers, if my husband gets one that supplies Health Insurance~!! Thanks Obama!!

I hear you Diana. I'm a nurse and after 5 years with no raise because of increasing healthcare premiums and people dropping coverage; employers closing up and/or laying off; gas prices skyrocketing; my husband's employer having to increase the employee share of premiums and then we have to pay taxes on the employer's share; it's to the point it isn't worth me working anymore, I retired. It's crazy; I'm not working 60 hours a week to support a deadbeat. My husband is 70 this year and I...

We're raising a granddaughter and that is why we continued working so long but when they make laws that make it harder for the working person to work and bring home a decent paycheck........doesn't make sense. It's all about the VOTE.
