He said he couldn't take seriously any religion that had Halloeen as a main holliday. Wiccans do not celebrate Halloween. Wiccans and those of Celtic paths celibrate Samhain. Halloween or more correctly All Hallows Eve is... um.. OhYea! Catholic.Talk about being heavy on the hollidays.

I have been pagan since I was 19 years old, and I must say, watchign this video made me SICK. How can a public network do such a thing and not be penalized for it is beyond me. This only reinforces my decision to remove cable TV from my house. I don not wish my daughter to see such bigoted opinions. And 20 holidays? Really?

In all honestly, we can't afford it right now anyway, what with Eddie being the only one working. And don't even get on the you get a job too soapbox. It's a willing sacrifice to make sure Kayleigh doesn't have to go to daycare.

There are many people who are doctors, nurses, police officers, firemen and women, business owners, teachers, professors, store owners, cashiers, insurance salesmen/women, administrators, etc who are Wiccan and consider themselves Pagan. What these people(the 3 tv news-people?) have done, is aligned to a hate crime. They have influenced people to believe that someone of an Earth Based Faith is unworthy of respect garnered to other religious people. I also believe that this kind of rant...

I also believe that this kind of rant can leave innocent people who have families and loved ones, targets for people who are bigots [I think the 3 very ignorant news [sic] people are], or worse. Their opinions are their own, but should never be presented like they were presented on that show. I hope their supervisors, and the owners of this tv station take this seriously. I have been insulted and more so, my religious freedom has been compromised.

I cannot believe what I just heard come out of their mouths. I'm horrified by the way they were behaving, plain rude & disrespectful. Any religion or way someone chooses should be respected.

I watched that clip and the whole time I was like, "Is this fake? They can't possibly let "JOURNALISTS" talk like this on national television." But...apparently I was wrong. Pretty much every time I turn around, Fox "News" manages to surprise me with a whole new level of Bullshitness.

I'd love for you to name all 20 of those holidays - there are eight - Candlemas (Feb 2).
Spring Equinox (Apr 21).
Eostar, (You call it Easter).
Beltane (May 1) (May DAy),
Summer Solstice (Litha) June 21),
Lughnaasad (Aug 21 ish),
Samhain (Oct 30), New Years Day,
Yule (Dec 21st) (You call it Christmas).

And while "they" think their trying to push Christianity down my throat by saying Merry Christmas. They also think I'm trying to ram my religion down their throat and tell them they...

You are correct in that you won't find this problem in any other country in the world - in all other countries, religions are equal and nobody, including the Christians, would think of trying to ban other peoples right to follow their heart's choice.

Probably when you say "20" you are including the Esbats - the 12 Full Moons, which -while sacred - are not normally requested off. The only ones we ask to be guaranteed are the High Sabbats - especially as 3 of them you celebrate as well.

Interesting how all of you say you don't know any Wiccans/Pagans, then go on to describe how the Pagans you know behave. 98% do not, and probably 10-15% of the Christians DO fit your description. Ever seen a Catholic High Mass performed properly? You are witnessing a proper circle being cast - even that they stole from us.

Except that the lunar calendar is based on 13 full moons, making it 21 every couple of years. Also many portions of the "Pagan" community use a combined Luni-Solar calendar where the celebrations of the four quarter days move with the full moon, while the Solar days of Solstice and Equinox remain fixed. This means there are a total of 16-17 HOLY days. Just depends on which flavor of Paganism is practiced.

I too am dismayed how Fox News can play a part in this, but why? What is their motivation? Why are they only attacking one group? I could pick their statements apart, but I don't need to reiterate what others already have. Shame on Fox News, and shame on the newscasters for being so dumb and uninformed. They get paid so much more than our teachers do.

FYI:

FYI:
I went to Mizzu's site myself to read the page of their student and faculty guide. Out of 47 stated holidays including Jewish, Christian, Eastern Orthodox Christian, Roman Catholic, Protestant, Wiccan and Pagan, Sikh, Hindu, Islamic, Jainism, Baha'i, Shinto, Confucian, Taoist, and Buddhist, eight were Wiccan and Pagan.

No one is insisting these days be officially observed, only that students who adhere to a particular faith might not be up to par and its up to the faculty to decide what accommodation might be necessary.

When in doubt, read for yourself. http://diversity.missouri.edu/get-involved/religion/holidays.php

Did any of you actually see the video? They made very mild, non-offensive comments. This is not something to get up in arms about. If you weren't a bunch of libs thinking fox news was evil, you wouldn't pay attention to this silly segment.

This broadcast displayed a despicable lack of information regarding Pagans, Wiccans and Wytches.
All women are my sisters. The snide remarks leveled at their gender are offensive to my ears. They warrant an apology to all women, be they Pagan or not.
Twenty percent of all holidays only equals one fifth of all holidays. The point was sadly moot.

these people are seriously stupid.. christian holidays all have pagan roots.. As for some of the other holidays, such as Christmas, Christians didn't allow the pagans to keep their celebrations, but rather provided an alternative to the more popular secular festivals. During the Christmas season, for example, many Christians were uncomfortable with the worship of a pagan god, Mithra (for more on Mithra and Christianity, see Did Christianity Steal From Mithraism?). So the church decided to counter the pagan festival with one of their own, one that celebrates the birth of the savior. Since no one knows on just which day Jesus was actually born, December 25 worked as well as any other. We see many churches do similar things today in their Harvest festivals; they choose October 31 to create an alternative celebration to Halloween.
