This girl is exhibiting all the values she is supposed to learn as a Girl Scout, but they want to kick her out? There is something very wrong with that!

I hate to say it, but this reminds me of what the boyscouts are doing to. I thought that these organizations were about morals and values. I think this is a joke, my kids will not join any troop what so ever. I will teach my kids morals and values on my own. I realize that I am just one person, but I'm going to try my best. Kudo's to Emma for trying to do something that's right

I agree Kelly. Emma worked 12 hours this weekend at booths, selling cookies. After hearing about this petition, I suddenly get a call from Girl Scouts saying Emma is being removed from her troop. It is wrong.

I'm sure the GS are not prepared to handle the situation or the publicity...or they wouldn't be tossing cookies! This is a story to support the organization getting their crumbs together and the GS being reinstated....<3

NO she should NOT be removed from her troop! THat is just plain outright WRONG.

I don't think GS cookies are food (read the ingredient list...) but I WILL sign the petition now, because that's simply just an evil way to treat this child. She is smart, she has ideas, she needs to be heard. And the troops to whom these cookies could be sent can decide yes or no on consuming them.

Kimberly Reynolds: I suggest forming national organization to fight for her rights as an American and as a Girl Scout. Sue the scum. They make me very angry. Once a Girl Scout, always a Girl Scout. They have shamed me as a Girl Scout.

Let me know. Form it, and I will join.

Kate Glenn was it your local council who called you, or GS of USA?

I am ashamed to say I used to be a Girl Scout when I was younger, and see this sort of thing makes me wish I never had been. It goes against everything that I learned when a member and to see and know they have been doing this for ages, it makes me think of all the cookies gone to waste over the years.. I myself do not remember returning any unsold cookies but I imagine some needed to.

I hope that things get worked out and they fix this problem. Not to mention give kudos to Emma for doing what she knew was right.

That's crazy, people wait til it's in season to be able to buy them....and it's being thrown away with so many homeless people and low income families going through poverty in the u.s.

My Family and I all support the Girl/ Boy Scouts. It's really bad when people throw away any thing someone else could enjoy or use. Give the cookies to the Military? YES, YES. I will think about this next time they want me to purchase some cookies.

Let's remember that the Girl Scouts is probably not the only group that disposes of unsold product. Perhaps you would like to look into other organizations & companies that do the same. While I agree that the cookies should be sent to the troops, we don't need to make the organization out to be a villian. I have worked with Girl Scouts for over a decade & know that it can make a huge difference in a girl's life. I have had girls from troops I led over 6 years ago come back & tell me what...

Expelling a girl from a troop is probably not done from the nation level, but more likely the local council level. Let's keep things in perspective.

Emma you are a brilliant and inspirational young woman who will go far in life and help many if you continue with this way of thinking. Do not let the Girl Scouts take away your enthusiasm. It is young people like you who will change the future, and I hope make the world a better place to live. As for the Girl Scouts lets not forget that they've become nothing more than another big business, caring more about their bottom line than their girls, and this smart young woman came along and...

To top it off she came up with an amazing idea that they should have come with, or at very least should've embraced because it would've been an amazing PR coo! Instead they now have egg ( or maybe cookies?) on their faces! Go EMMA!

Something is extremely wrong with any organization that promotes the values that we want our children to possess, yet exhibits the antithesis of these values in such a blatant demonstration of waste. Supporting our troops by sending them all of the unsold boxes of GS cookies is an act of kindness, respect and humanity. Does this organization not find these acceptable acts? Or does it consider bullying, waste and fraud more desirable? This is shameful and I hope that reconsideration of...

Why on earth troops would receiving a cookies, for the crimes?

A much better way to support your troops would be to bring them home. Then you could just give them the cookies and thousdands of innocent girls your age in other countries wouldn't have to live in a war zone. Thus solving all your cookie related logistical problems.

The public has no right to demand what a private company/organization does! Yes, it would be nice if they donated the left over cookies to the homeless or troops or whomever - but we have no right to demand it.
