The reality is this country is heading down facist lane in a fast and furious fashion. The ruling class could not possibly care less about students. Stop being poilite about this and get into the friggin streets and show some spunk like we did in the sixties.

Yeah, remember thousands of us out there protesting against the Vietnam war, and now where is everyone? Sooner or later there is going to be chaos; people are getting fed up with seeing the corruption in our civil servants, CEO's paying minimum wage and raking in millions for themselves, etc., I could go on and on. People need to stop being SHEEP, do some critical thinking and start writing letters to local, state reps., just DO SOMETHING.

I suggest you educate yourself: http://www.studentloanjustice.org/argument.htm . Spouting advice that everyone agrees with does nothing to solve our problem.

Circumstances beyond my control interfered with my ability to pay back my loans. Research the evidence before making ignorant judgments.

The bankruptcy law was rewritten by Bush, and the republicans in 2005 to benefit credit card companies, and other corporations, a company can declare bankruptcy, and void all union contracts etc, but a common person cannot write off a student loan.

However, after reading the comments--particularly Stacia Kingston's comment--I realize that these loans have turned into predatory procedures against the recipients. The greed of these lending institutions cannot be overstated. I disagreed with the bank bailouts and now I disagree even more. I've been haunted by a student loan like a cancerous sore for twenty plus years, and it won't go away, no matter how much money I send them, enough is enough!

Our children are "drowning" in student loan debt! Please help them, like you've helped others.....

Student loan rules are more restrictive than the IRS, even they will negotiate a lower pay-off. There is something VERY wrong with the limitless powers of Sallie Mae and Direct Loans.

Something to think about....the families of the politicians that revoked our ability to file bankruptcy for student loans can borrow as much money as they want and NEVER has to pay back a dime! Grrr!
