Not sure about this petition, things have changed, I wrote several articles for Examiner.com regarding the take-over of the labor force in the US by greed and politics, one such article is: article: Forty per ent of college graduates are saddled eith defecit and menial jobs. jobschangedhttp://www.examiner.com/article/forty-percent-of-college-graduates-are-saddled-with-debt-and-menial-jobs
I believe that this cause would get a lot more signatures for this petition if Causes didn't require "to access your public profile, friend list, email address, birthday, hometown, current city and your friends' current cities" to do so. There is no reason Causes should have/need all of this information. Though I really wanted to sign the petition, I would have passed on it if it hadn't been necessary to post this comment.
This is bad. The only things Congress require are your full name, address, and zip code. This is to prove you are in their district and you are actually a real person, not someone trying to "stuff the ballot" with fraudulent signatures.
I am currently seeking legal relief from Sallie Mae, they send letters to my house demanding I write checks to re-pay them in full [nearly 30,000 USD] or else.... they have made my life a living hell since graduating from college in 2008 and have yet to help me. Ignoring years of my attempts to negotiate a payment I can make on my measly salary BELOW THE POVERTY LINE! It has to stop! They have destroyed my credit and harassed me for years PLEASE HELP!
We really should just sue them all for fraud, RICO, 14th amendment and 1st amendment, non-accountability for not enforcing the few existing laws there are, standard consumer protections (a whole list of them, not just bankruptcy).
I paid 5 dollars to promote this petition on facebook hopefully this helps Lord knows we all need it.
I've paid off my credit cards and all 3 credit scores are over 730 and I can't even get my own car loan due to my student debt. I work 2 jobs and I'm looking for a 3 one just to keep my head above water. I really need help. Millions of people need help.
Hi Alan, I was told by the Fed. Student Loans, Sallie Mae, that I did not qualify for IBR because I was only working part time. I explained to Sallie Mae, after I had to practically yell to get the woman to listen, that I was hire full time but because of medical conditions I could only work part time right now. She put my loans in defferment. This still doesn't help in the long run it merely delays the pain.
and increases your principal, therefore your payback
This should NEVER have been removed in the FIRST place! While Congress achieves very little, the things it does push through often do little for "the People" and more for large corporations!
You rescued the banks, automobile, and wall street; give us our rescue now, the students!
Meanwhile, the former Mayor of San Diego steals from charity to fund her gambling habit and gets a slap on the wrist.
She better not
I saw that. I thought no one could top Bill Bennett, who pissed away $25 million, but she takes the cake, eats it, and gets 100 more.
I was not going to sign this petition as I have a fundamental belief that what you borrow you should repay. However, after reading the comments--particularly Stacia Kingston's comment--I realize that these loans have turned into predatory procedures against the recipients. The greed of these lending institutions cannot be overstated. I disagreed with the bank bailouts and now I disagree even more. The banks and lending institutions need to be held accountable for their disreputable...

The greed of these lending institutions cannot be overstated. I disagreed with the bank bailouts and now I disagree even more. The banks and lending institutions need to be held accountable for their disreputable behavior and decisions. Consumers, especially students, need to be protected from this predatory loan process.
