I worked at a place that had a lot of immigrants working there. One of them had applied for citizenship here. The day she became a citizen she thought our country was so great, etc. She was bragging about how she had gotten $10,000 to help her and her family, etc. I don't remember the exact length of time that she wasn't required to pay any taxes, SS, etc out of her pay check but the day came where they did pull it. She was pissed off and said she didn't think it was fair that they took money from her earnings. I looked at her and said, "Welcome to America. You at least got the advantage of getting funds when you got here to help you out, as well as not having to pay taxes, and alot of other things we have to pay. You are gripping about your paycheck yet the ones of us who are born here have had to pay taxes from the day we started working. Also, the government never just handed over $10,000 to us to help us out when we needed the help. I don't know what you are bitching about. You can always go back to your country if you think it's so bad here now." She said she just might. I hope she did.

These people needed to do it the legal way just like my grandparents! They were at Ellis Island until they were processed and could speak enough English to get by. Then they could become a citizen.

These people new the chance they were taking when they came here illegally. They should not be rewarded for breaking the law! They need to go back where they came from and do it the right way just like everyone else did! Breaking the law should not be rewarded with amnesty! NO WAY! Send them back.

When did we start rewarding someone for breaking the law? If we were in their country under the same situation, we would be lost in their prison system with no rights.

What make these people special that they do not have to go through the channels of citizen ship most have had more than enough time to become legal citizens but knew if they waited long enough someone like Obama would come along and grant them amnesty. This is wrong, also you will ne putting 30 million more people on Obama care, which will have a negative impact on our health care. To much of a strained on our health care and wel fare on ou country,

All those who would be given amnesty would just encourage millions more to jump the fence. America can't support the current ones, but the Democrats do want this so they can get 11 million more votes while playing Santa Claus with your hard-earned tax dollars.

The path should be to return to Mexico, apply for a visa, and then return legally. I agree with several earlier posts, these people are here illegaly. That is a crime in the US and we can't enforce it by sending them back? Are we gutless, stupid or what. And Obama wants to give illegals a free ride! What happened to this country. At some point in time, we will have to take it back. It's certainly not ours any more.

If we grant amnesty to the illegals here already, then we can get them registered and start collecting taxes from them. Many illegals now work under the table and don't pay any taxes. If they can prove they are working then they can go to the end of the line while waiting. If they get caught being here after amnesty and still are illegal, then they should be deported immediately.
Some that are now considered illegal came here on student visas or work permits that have expired. In that...

Some that are now considered illegal came here on student visas or work permits that have expired. In that instance, I think they should be reinstated, pay a penalty, and be allowed to stay, as they came here legally in the beginning.
They already have our jobs that most Americans won't or don't take. So get them registered and collect the taxes like they do for everyone else. The criminals can be sent back.

What part of ILLEGAL is not understood in Washington? They need to return to their homeland and enter the US LEGALLY! AND, as a condition of citizenship, they need to pay stiff penalties for each year they were here illegally, per member of the family. (one way to help fix the growing deficit). Washington wants only those with criminal records to be expelled from this country, but, all of them have broken OUR LAW, so actually, they ALL are criminals! Just one more group of people getting a pat on the back for breaking the law AND we give them government handouts...and when struggling americans ask for help, we are denied. Time to wake up America!

Oh and yeah they need to learn English before they even apply for citizenship. I am tired of wasting our dollars on translating English to Spanish and seeing this translation every where I go. This is America and if you want to come to America then you need to speak English especially if you want to become an American citizen. We are making it too easy for them and before you know it they will want Spanish to be America's primary language and this is just BS!

They need to get in line behind the ones who are getting their citizenship legally and apply themselves as law provides.
