A waste of money, we need to adapt to the changing enviroment! Sea walls/ levies offer a falsesense if security. Islands aroun the world are sinking.
If you think that Super-Storm Sandy was bad, just wait for whats coming! Its coming people and we aren't doing anything about it!
People just don't get it, you can just pick up your family and move! That isn't reasonable and the home insurance companies aren't helping either, in fact there only creating MORE problems!
Good luck to those still homeless and affected by Hurricane Sandy! I hope your lives will come together and you will actually be able to live again, in reasonable comfort.
For those who are saying you don't care or just move or just get over it........I have a message for you...........
STOP being IGNORANT!
I live in Alaska and while I don't know what the situation is like exactly, what I do know is that we have done a great diservice to our own fellow countrymen and we should feel ashamed for this!

We need a sea wall
Just as New Orleans needs protection from the raging hurricanes, why not every coastal cityand small town be protected.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VOVXz8UEBPM Seawalls are so important in protecting our communities. I tried to make a video showing our vulnerability without them. Mostly S.I. and a few parts of NJ... Would love to see much needed protection soon.
Yes we need a sea wall.
First response to our petition-
Thank you for your email. We share your concern regarding the city's coastal defenses and are actively collaborating with the responsible agency, the United States Army Corps of Engineers, to ensure that the Sandy appropriation funds are spent responsibly and quickly to improve the coastal resilience of the East and South Shore of Staten Island against future flood risks.

A Citizen Commission needs to be set up to investigate the Flood Insurance program, Private Insurance Practices, and recommend how policies should be written, implemented, administered, what kind of premiums may be allowed and a Disaster Insurance Purchaser Bill of Rights Drawn UP!
I live in Staten Island and have a home severely damaged by Sandy. Please join the group www.facebook.com/stopfemanow ! We have to get together and stop FEMA from what they are doing to all of us! The group wants to come to Staten Island and get our officials to help! Just like the page and you will get lots of information.
I did it, Carole!
Carol- We should have a SI stop Fema now meeting!
I've made contact with stop Fema & Staten Island will join forces with NJ!
