That's why you have a 2nd amendment. Duh... it doesn't have to go to trial... shooting the rapist to avoid assault is justifiable in Texas.

It probably has a lot to do with the fact that he was a police officer. My police officer bf would rape me in uniform and on duty. Sometimes it was at gunpoint and sometimes just with force. The DA has pictures of the gun barrell bruises to my mouth and tons of black eyes. 13 charges were submitted by the Rape/Assault Detective. They are letting it go b/c there was no rape kit. Well, it's kind of hard to get one when the rapist stays at your house for a month, don't let you out of his sight,...

Well, it's kind of hard to get one when the rapist stays at your house for a month, don't let you out of his sight, imprisons you, makes you stay on the phone with him all night until you fall asleep, etc. He told me that they would turn the call against me and his friends/co-workers would help by planting drugs and weapons on me and my kids. He drove me in a police car and showed me where he would put my dead body and how (calling it the "Perfect Murder" he had planned since his 1st police dept job). I went to the FBI to get him fired b/c he was on his 2nd expungement for simple battery and I just wanted it to stop. He finally got fired after years of abuse and the upper hand to me and citizen, but now his "bad guy" friends/co-workers are carrying on worse than him. I wish I never told. I really do. My life would be different than this constant fear that I have to live in now. I also have to move b/c of them. Sad. It's called the Blue Line of Brotherhood. All you can do is let them rape, beat and abuse you. They have the highest rate of divorce of any profession and they have 2 to 4 x the national average of domestice violence--- like 1 out of 2 cops will hit women :(

How the hell could this kind of law even be around? Common sense isn't quite so common after all.

Rape is what is described in this petition:
1.the unlawful compelling of a person through physical force or duress to have sexual intercourse.

3.statutory rape.

On a technicality, rape and sexual assault are the same thing but opinionated as different and because of this, many people aren't being given the correct punishment.

If the law realises that rape is sexual assault then all they have to do is to give the correct punishment but under no circumstances should rape be taken seriously unless there is proof whether it's a physical examination, eye witness's, bruises etc. Too many innocent people go to jail, get fined etc because of pathetic women AND men stating they were raped when they weren't just for revenge, money or something else even more petty.

I find this sexual though. Men get raped too, not as often but it does happen.

I never bothered to tell anyone when I was raped, as a virgin, later as a wife,. who is listening? they look at me and say you are too blame you are too pretty, sure and what about all the other victims, some of whom are babies, are they too pretty too, or the old women? you lose whatever you do, there is always a way to blame the victim. always. that is why today I am the pedophile slayer of jerusalem because that is the worst rape of all, the children. the babies, the toddlers.

Lydia Cuomo -- you are extremely brave to be so vocal about such a private matter. Thank you for seeing the bigger picture.

In 1972, I wanted this definition adopted by the Minnesota Legislature, as I was well aware of redundant discrepancies in the State Law. My most vocal opposition was from women, calling themselves either feminists or lesbians, and I was hurt by their cruel disregard for "male rape victims". They eventually won out, in the State Legislature, and "rape" was technically defined as "vaginal penetration by a penis". The ugly injustice has not been redressed, to this day.

What I must add is that here (In SA) the definition of rape was broadened to cover all the various aspects, however as explained before it is neither here nor there if one cannot act in defence without becoming the "perpetrator".Prevention is supposed to be better than cure.....Laws must work in practise not just in theory, else there is no point in having them.
