One of my most beautiful babies was adopted from our old Brampton, Ontario animal shelter. A gorgeous silver tabby called Pepper with a white high collar, shirt, matching striped morning tie, cummerbund, and white shirt-tail sticking out below. White silk socks and a ring on his right index finger. He was 5 mos. old and to be a companion to my 15 mo. old bl. pt. Siamese girl, Tiki, who was 15 mos. They were most loving and talkative and as my previous neutered Siamese boy a generation beflore, he was everyone's friend - so soft and silky and I miss him still after 4 years when he had to cross at just -17 yrs. Miss Tiki had to go to him at 19 yrs. 7 mos. just 1-1/2 years ago. I brought in 2 outside fosters that I'd been protecting, feeding and housing outside prior to their passing and picked up some of their begging traits and after 4 years Paulie (he's a Hemingway cat) is becoming cuddly but the daughter is very skittish still...cannot pick them up which I so miss but one can hope. Every day I think of my many, many cherished babies who have gone to have fun and better health over the rainbow bridge - one day - all my Siamese are probably singing 'we are Siamese if you please, we are Siamese if you don't please' but have met their predecessors as well and all chase after cat nip and play I hope. Sgt. Pepper of course escalated on his last day to a General as per his vet. Sadly missed, always, all of them by myself and Paulie and Mary.

I can just imagine how handsome "Pepper" was.... all the others too!! I know your 2 fosters will come around because they can feel the Love you have for them and the security of a safe home!!

I've saved about 15 dogs from animal shelters but never a cat. I have also rescued a few dogs and two cats. I don't have a facility or the ability to transport as I am blind but I do what I can, sign petitions and send money to help when possible.

Yup, all of my "free" animals have run into some $$$ & worth every penny. I adopted a 4 month old abused kitten from a shelter--called on him AFTER he was supposed to have been euthanized. Thank goodness the vet techs hated that part of their job & had put it off, so he was saved by my call. Banzaii was my devoted boy all the days of his life. My other pets are rescues, but have come to me from other dire situations. I'm glad you saved Mollycat!

All of our kitty rescues are from a farm area where unfeeling people just abandon them. Now they are inside and warm. Started out with six, but two have gone to spirit. Love them all.

By the way, for those who haven't yet fostered, it is a great feeling to be part of a chain in which you help an animal find a happy forever home. We have fostered, transported, home checked and donated. Some rescues may find it helpful if you helped clean out or walked dogs - go & ask.

All of my pets have been rescues. Don't forget that you can help by fostering, helping on transport runs or even donating money or goods.

People don't get it, spay and neuter. To many dogs and cats die every day in shelters, this is unacceptable and easy to fix.

I've not adopted from a shelter or rescue, but I have adopted from private owners needing homes for their kittens.

All my three black cats were adopted. First came persian Precious, a stray cat that my girlfriend was feeding on the ground floor patio. Then I wanted a companion for Precious so I saw this ad in the paper that said this girl was trying to find a home for her two-year old cats. I said I'd take one but when I got there she said, "You have to take them both, I want them kept together". It's a good thing otherwise it would have been like the movie with Meryl Streep (Sophie's Choice) where she...

It's a good thing otherwise it would have been like the movie with Meryl Streep (Sophie's Choice) where she has to choose between two children. So I took them. Sheba (a beautiful male panther cat) is now Romeo and Baby, a persian, (as her owner called her) is now Baby Juliet. I have never regretted taking them in. My world would be so cold without them and they have given me so much, they are ethereal. I swear Precious helped me quit smoking. After dinner she knew I was going to light up and she would come up to me and stare and stare and stare, making me feel very guilty. I did quit then. I think everyone, especially those people in old folks' homes should have a cat. Please, do adopt. I've had them for seven years and only one trip to the vet for shots. The rewards are priceless!
