I agree with paula. The ocean itself is becoming a living hell for the creatures in it, and has been the worlds toilet for years. overfishing is now killing it, with the main criminal china, so once we give the aquarium inhabitants freedom, what are we discharging them into? I was once proud to be of canandian descent, but canada is looking like the u.s. in morals every day. greed and corruption everywhere.

Canada as always lacked in morals and it is worse now then ever. Anything goes in Canada and that is not a good thing. I lived in the States for a few years and I find they have very low tolerance for a lot of crap then Canada. That includes animal cruelty.

All Canadians do NOT lack morals Phyllis. For you to say such a cruel thing would be as bad as me stating that ALL Americans let animals suffer and die in agony in their kill shelters! Check out most of the postings on Animal cruelty and it is all in the States not Canada. YES, we have cruelty here also but not on the same level as you do in America. I have friends that are fighting for Animal rights in the USA and that is also where they live! And NOT ANYTHING goes in Canada! How dare you...

How dare you judge Canadians in such a shameful way without living here and knowing the truth! I don't care if you live in the States for a few years, or China or Japan or England, you DO NOT have the right to condemn all of Canada for a handful of bad seeds, no more than I have the right to condemn the USA because of a handful of bad apples! Get your facts straight before you condemn other countries, lady! Do we have animal cruelty? Of course we do! Does the USA have animal cruelty...Of course they do and on a bigger scale because you have many more people living in your country than we have in Canada! I fight every day for animal rights in countries all around the world. How about you? Or do you just like to knock other countries?

I'm signing, but it is a matter of Which of all the evils is the lesser one?
The living conditions in many of these places are substandard, shocking for places that are supposed to promote their wellfare. They are made to work, and suffer from terrible stress because animals, wild or not, were not made to adjust to our schedules and circus routines. But they have food and medical attention there.
If released into the wild, they face being fished out again, re-living the horrific situation...

If released into the wild, they face being fished out again, re-living the horrific situation that took them to the aquarium in the first place.. if they survive again. They may die or get seriously injured in the process of being recaptured.. because that's what's going to happen to them: no animal is safe from us anymore anywhere for any period of time.
Then, the odds are that, on being recaptured, they will end up as dead meat for our unsatiable food chain.
Finally, if successfully released into the ocean, are they going to be able to survive after so long in captivity?
The only solution is to send them to a sanctuary/decent zoo/protected marine zone/etc that recreates their natural habitat. Oh God, the hell that men created!

It's is the closing of these places that will end the capture, so we have to start there. The killing we have a long way to go for sure. We need to outlaw the killing of sea mamells and sharks for that stupid soup!!

I have personally gone to Marineland before (I live in the Falls where it is) and I personally have seen the animals especially the bears be extremely skinny. John Holder waits to feed the animals when the tourists are there. It seems to me that it has been like that for yrs. even when I used to go there when I was a kid the animals always were skinny. It is very terrible and sick!

Before you buy a ticket, remember that patronizing marine-mammal parks and swim-with programs helps to support Japan's bloody dolphin, you are also making the fisherman rich, he get 150,000 for each dolphin he captured, that is why we continued to have these senseless, brutal capture of these dolphins for our entertainment, It time to do away with any animals living in a cold, lonely place of hell.
