It's just another place in our lives that the government has no right to interfere. Honestly, I could care less if I offend a Muslim or anyone from another religion! If someone died defending our country give the person his/her dignity and leave their grave as a personal space for the family and friends to visit. If they or their family choose to display a cross it is nobody's business. This is only one reason why our boarders should have been closed years ago. These people come here and...

These people come here and think they can make demands on us. Many of us have families that have lived, served, and paid taxes here for many years. How dare anybody think otherwise...we have to take a stand and draw the line somewhere to stop these self-serving, self-centered zealots! If they want to display a star of David or any other religious sign I don't see Christians stopping them...again, how dare they feel they have the right...especially our POTUS who has never proven he is a citizen with anything other than a fake birth certificate! This boils my blood.

Laura Austin Hey Laura, please don't forget that it is God's will that none should perish, but that all should inherit the Kingdom of God. It makes the Lord unhappy when his creation turns from Him and they will suffer for eternity. He would rather they accept Him and His love and gifts. He would NOT rejoice in their writhing in hell.

I was in the military for 6 years. I was not a Christian then, but never complained about the chapels or chaplains. This is a country founded on Judo-Christian beliefs, but we have in our Bill of Rights a sentence that states we have the freedom of religion, and no atheist or muslim, or crazed with power President can take that away. We will stand up for our rights, Christians have the same rights as any other religion!

Maria Rodriguez
Maria Rodriguez

ABSOLUTELY NOT WE NEED THE CROSS MORE THAN EVER PEOPLE COME HERE AND EXPECT US TO CHANGE EVERYTHING ABOUT OUR BELIEFS..IF U COME TO AMERICA, THEN IT IS UR DECISION, SO THEREFORE U HAVE TO ADAPT TO WHAT WE BELIEVE IN ACCEPT OUR RIGHTS..WE DONT TELL U HOW TO PRAY OR NOT TO WEAR YOUR CLOTHING WEAR

This is unacceptable! Our Country should stay with the beliefs and traditions that we have always had and treasured. In God We Trust and that should never be forgotten or taken away!!!!!

why would an atheist care if a chapel had a religious symbol or not? they would not be there.

why would a Muslim care if a chapel had a cross.
it is not a place of worship for them all they need is a direction to face.

Rebecca Hillstead

  • Charles Farly

It actually is. Chapels on military posts are used by every religious group on post for any need they may have as well as FRG meetings and solider briefings.

then removal should include all religious symbols of any faith.

I agree, and although I've never seen a Star of David or Pentacle, or any other religious symbol on any military building (aside from a cross), if I did I would be concerned about how other people feel walking into those spaces.

Benjamin Forman

This doesn't really make sense to me. As a military BRAT of an Air Force chaplain I am well aware that religious neutral symbols are displayed at all times in the chapels except for when a specific religious service is in progress. E.g. Christian and Catholic crosses are hidden behind a partition curtain unless a Protestant or Catholic service is in progress. So, what exactly is the problem with having crosses in the chapels? They are usually not on full display anyway, or at least according to military regulations they are not supposed to be.

Valerie Ritchie

Maybe people are not obeying the regulations?

Or there could have been an incident with a group of 'Christians' being mean to the other religions.

I believe that the crosses should remain in the chapels. Obama once again tries to downplay christian symbols. It makes me believe more and more that he really is a muslim man. All he really is accomplishing is angering the very people he should be working with in Congress and alienating conservative christian community. He should be working with all sides to come up with a solution to the problem but he usually reacts instead of compromising.

What about offending Christians? This ia America...with our Christian roots, our English language, our Constitution and Bill of Rights, our laws and our ways. If Athiests and Muslims don't like it...let them move instead of taking our rights away! Obama is only the President, both terms, due to massive fraud, lies and deception. He WILL try to run for a 3rd term...you can bet on it! There is already a bill being introduced to stop term limits on the President. Didn't we know that was coming!...

The crosses should not be removed. This country was founded on God and the military defends this country. Military Christian chaplins wear the cross on their lapels to identify them as such. Military chapels have always displayed the cross. Soldiers far from home and in harms way need and pray to God. Prayer is big before deployments and during them. God is comfort to our Soldiers. If the nonbelievers and the atheists don't want the crosses, tough luck! Maybe they need God in their lives.

This article refers to the army regulations (although the link given doesn't work so I can not verify). According to the article (once again, unsubstantiated) it is against regulations to have any religious symbol permanently affixed to the structure. So (if the article is correct) they were in violation of army reg's having it in the first place. Perhaps if you have one of your old manuals you may be able to verify or debunk that claim. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1111/69039.html

Donna Fox Never heard them complain because they have a cross where they can see it. No one forces them to worship God. God doesn't even force people to worship him. If they are sent into another country to fight for them and they demand they remove anything Christian then I would not send them to that country. Let them fight their own fight. You can't respect one who doesn't believe in God by taking it away from those who do. Seems disrespecting them is okay with you ?

Donna Fox out of line. One has nothing to do with the other. Our country and our culture is based on the principle of the Christian Bible. They are welcome to their beliefs but why should our entire culture be gutted because someone gets offended. Guess what, being offended is part of life. Live with it like everyone else. The Bible said this would end in a religious war, and here it is in plain site.

As Christians we are required to pray for our leaders. Why are we as Americans so anti-Obama that we blame him for everything that is not Christian like.

Last December on a cold winter day, I along with thousands Americans volunteered to lay wreaths on the graves of our fallen soldiers. There were several graves without crosses and we did not place wreaths on them. We respected their rights. If someone is offended by crosses on military installations, then am I to assume they are offended...

To Ms. Fox, because soldiers died without accepting Christ as Lord, does not mean they or their families are offended by the cross

Christian Americans the Supreme Being is not a Christian. He is for all religion background. Also we do have the LBGT community and the Supreme Being also made them too.

I don’t support what Obama did to the Christians, because if he will do this to you, who else will he do it too? USA is not a Judeo/Christian nation it states that in the 1st Amendment “congress shall not make no laws respecting of a religion” meaning congress will not make any laws based on a religion and to many politicians believes we need to change this country into where religion people can judge others and the laws should be based on the Judeo/Christian religion. I am sorry this is not what this country was founded for. Anyways Jesus did say didn’t he? you are to pray in private and you are not suppose to judge others and that you are suppose to love your neighbor as thyself. Please follow Jesus words and please stop preaching to others. Your bible laws are for Christians only they are not for non Christians.

Peace to all

Vamshi Krishna We don't, it was not 53 percent, they cheated and stole the election. Many people voted for Romney and saw the machine "confirm" their vote for Obama. Republicans were kicked out of voting places. Really bad things happened, but the media is on the liberal side and there is little recourse.

Ken Wanner No one has banned Jesus from schools, just like prayer, never has been a ban - that's pure 100% BS - what has been done is that it can not be forced on those who do not want it. Each can pray in their own personal and private way, each can follow the Devine being of their choice, and no one has the right to force a particular belief on another or force them to participate in religious practices they do not believe. It's called Equality for all, not just a select few. Believe...

I'm really tired of people crying and lying because they can no longer force feed a certain belief on others, most of those complaining now have never ever, stood in a pulpit, led a public prayer, probably not even in private either. The loudest have never knocked on doors, invited a neighbor to church with them. And the angriest of the bunch probably only show up at the church building for weddings and funerals. Live your faith before you try to force it on others.

I can't figure that out either. I work one day aweek in a crisis center, and it is pathetic how people are fighting for survival. One client said to me last week, "I don't want to be out on the street. When you are 65 you are too old, but it seems the government really doesn't care." As her eyes filled with tears.
