Richard Crooks They are on a much better WELFARE system than they allow for the people that voted them in... All their SALARIES need to be CUT... We get evaluations and if we have bad ones there are consequences. They don't even care about our issues... I have tried to contact many of the politicains because of the KY laws.... Here they award child molesters money from divorces and let them do alford pleas as well as NOT make them register.... ASSHOLES.... I bet you if it were their family they would be all over it!

YEP THEY SHOULD HAVE TO TAK4E CARE OF BUSINESS OF OUR COUNTRY BEFORE THEY LEAVE FOR 2 WEEKS TO CAMPAIGN. IF WE DID THAT WE WOULDN'T HAVE A JOB FOR LONG. AND THEY SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO CAMPAIGN ON OUR TIME ( GETTING PD. WHILE CAMPAIGNING) NO WONDER THE GOV. IS GOING BROKE.

A BIG AMEN To That. How sad it is to where our Nation has come to. Why vote these people in if their not going to do their job? But why should they, they have it made. They don't work and look what they get paid,I could sit in a office, etc. as they do,whats hard about that. We the plan people could do a much better job then all of them put together. It is'nt education that makes a person do a better job,it's where their morals, standards, etc are. The TRUTH OF The Matter IS,All That Work In DC...

TRULY Are Suppose To Work For GOD,It's HIS GOV. Not Mans. It's In The Bible. Whats so hard about doing the right thing anymore, must be to easy,so they make it hard. Pray for our Leaders, thats the only way things will be where they should be. Remember GOD is still in control, but HE won't force mans will.

Why aren't they being furlowed (sp) as well. They are government employees too! They need to feel a hit in their wallet like the rest of us. Vacations should be their expenses not ours. They should also be required to pay their medical just like the rest of us. "We the People" does not seem to exist anymore. People have become GREEDY. Too many have lost their way and forgetting the one that really should matter: Jesus Christ! If he is in your heart your morals would be priority!

Karen Sue Timmons Woodall Nothing to do with this post but am curious if we are related as my maiden name is Timmons. Have not been able to find any living relatives on my Father's side. We weren't allowed to bring up his name from the time I was 5 due to a messy divorce that his Mother paid for my Mother to get. Would love to know if you are from NY?

I Wish we could do away with ALL Lobbyists. Especially In Light of This Presidents"Failed Promise To Not Appoint Any Lobbyists, The Democrats (At Least) Should Be Able To Accept Such a Concept. But, I'd Like To See Both Parties Reject Lobby Monies, Trips and Influence Buying. How President Obama Made So Many HUGE but Broken Promises on Things like This, (Only To Have Appointed Dozens of Major Lobbyists) as Well as Transparency; another Big Joke. Yet Thanks To an Adoring or Fearful Media just giving a Permanent Hall Pass To This Administration .

Congress should get a pay cut that is equal to the budget deficit. For example, the FY13 deficit is 23.7%, so Congressional pay should be reduced 23.7%. If they have a surplus, then they get a raise.

Many if not most elected officials seem to forget that they are responsible to the living breathing people they were elected to represent.

Actually, I think Pat McElraft and all our elected officials are doing the best they can. So many of them need money because they have to be away from home and pay expenses for maintaining a place and living in distant cities while they are away from home. One way I found to keep my costs down in my "Write in Campaign for President" last year was to live in a tent, provided for free to me by a wonderful man named Fish, who had lived in the tent for 2 years while working as the mechanic for Harrisburg Bike Taxi, under the I-83 bridge in Harrisburg, PA. I was also blessed to eat free meals provided by Downtown Daily Bread, Unitarians of Harrisburg, Harrisburg Area Community College Culinary Program and the several churches who served dinners by the Courthouse, the "Food Not Bombs" folks who served vegetarian meals once a week by the clock and many other groups providing meals and snacks. I also feel blessed to have shared those meals with the many wise, very real and intelligent people who lived on the streets and woods. People had so much time to converse and tell me their stories of how they came to be living the way they were. Some by choice and others through no fault of their own other than not having money or a job. Others, like Greg, had money and a job but wasn't making enough to afford a place to live because his job required him to be bussed a long distance one way to work and back, thus money was going to buy food. Sadly, I met him on the street several nights with a cup in hand because his bus to and from work had caused him not to be able to get to the free meals and because work was holding his pay for a couple weeks since he just started. Greg was always positive despite having all his things stolen one day while we waited in the rain by the Courthouse for a meal that didn't arrive. Living in Harrisburg this past summer and seeing the increasing number of people who were homeless and needing aid is one of the many reasons I've become such an advocate for showing people, especially kids, how to garden and grow and prepare their own food. So much of our educational and "safety net" system/institutions do nothing to show people how to do the simplest things to take care of themselves. We are trained to be in our minds and heads with a great cost to our own hearts and souls. Do we feed people for a day or teach them how to feed themselves and others for a lifetime? Sadly the fishing version of this saying seems to have produced great depletion of our fishery resources. Thus my added interest in developing oyster reefs that create habit for invertebrates and finfish while at the same time mitigating erosion and creating ecotourism opportunities where people can access the oyster reefs by swimming, kayaking, or sailing to them under their own power.
