Congress will never change! The only way to get rid of them is to vote the TVP in 2016(Jill Reed for President! That is the only way to dispose of them.

Ahh, you mean Jill Stein (of the Green Party) for President.
In any case, we all need to rise up and shake up the status
quo in HUGE fashion.

Congress should get a pay cut that is equal to the budget deficit. For example, the FY13 deficit is 23.7%, so Congressional pay should be reduced 23.7%. If they have a surplus, then they get a raise.

Maybe they'll know what it's like to walk in our shoes.

I'd like to pose a simple idea: let your representatives know that they are personally liable for any debt that they vote (or have voted) to create. They are also responsible for any legislation that causes the people harm (financial, physical or emotional). The precedent for this is seen with CEOs of corporations who have caused harm to their shareholders or the public. The precedent for this is seen with CEOs of corporations who have caused harm to their shareholders or the public. Many if not most elected officials seem to forget that they are responsible to the living breathing people they were elected to represent.

Actually, I think Pat McElraft and all our elected officials are doing the best they can. So many of them need money because they have to be away from home and pay expenses for maintaining a place and living in distant cities while they are away from home. One way I found to keep my costs down in my "Write in Campaign for President" last year was to live in a tent, provided for free to me by a wonderful man named Fish, who had lived in the tent for 2 years while working as the mechanic for...

Actually, I think Pat McElraft and all our elected officials are doing the best they can. So many of them need money because they have to be away from home and pay expenses for maintaining a place and living in distant cities while they are away from home. One way I found to keep my costs down in my "Write in Campaign for President" last year was to live in a tent, provided for free to me by a wonderful man named Fish, who had lived in the tent for 2 years while working as the mechanic for Harrisburg Bike Taxi, under the I-83 bridge in Harrisburg, PA. I was also blessed to eat free meals provided by Downtown Daily Bread, Unitarians of Harrisburg, Harrisburg Area Community College Culinary Program and the several churches who served dinners by the Courthouse, the "Food Not Bombs" folks who served vegetarian meals once a week by the clock and many other groups providing meals and snacks. I also feel blessed to have shared those meals with the many wise, very real and intelligent people who lived on the streets and woods. People had so much time to converse and tell me their stories of how they came to be living the way they were. Some by choice and others through no fault of their own other than not having money or a job. Others, like Greg, had money and a job but wasn't making enough to afford a place to live because his job required him to be bussed a long distance one way to work and back, thus money was going to buy food. Sadly, I met him on the street several nights with a cup in hand because his bus to and from work had caused him not to be able to get to the free meals and because work was holding his pay for a couple weeks since he just started. Greg was always positive despite having all his things stolen one day while we waited in the rain by the Courthouse for a meal that didn't arrive. Living in Harrisburg this past summer and seeing the increasing number of people who were homeless and needing aid is one of the many reasons I've become such an advocate for showing people, especially kids, how to garden and grow and prepare their own food. So much of our educational and "safety net" system/institutions do nothing to show people how to do the simplest things to take care of themselves. We are trained to be in our minds and heads with a great cost to our own hearts and souls. Do we feed people for a day or teach them how to feed themselves and others for a lifetime? Sadly the fishing version of this saying seems to have produced great depletion of our fishery resources. Thus my added interest in developing oyster reefs that create habit for invertebrates and finfish while at the same time mitigating erosion and creating ecotourism opportunities where people can access the oyster reefs by swimming, kayaking, or sailing to them under their own power.

Richard Crooks They are on a much better WELFARE system than they allow for the people that voted them in... All their SALARIES need to be CUT... We get evaluations and if we have bad ones there are consequences. They don't even care about our issues... I have tried to contact many of the politicains because of the KY laws.... Here they award child molesters money from divorces and let them do alford pleas as well as NOT make them register.... ASSHOLES.... I bet you if it were their family they would be all over it!

This could help the poor and keep more and more people from going poor. The recession we're facing now could go worse than the great depression or be just as bad.

This is to help with the economic downturn. I have a petition below that’s for the economy and ridiculous gas prices and other things affecting us. Let’s sign mine after signing this one. I need 1,000,000 signatures in total.

We should also take a stand against greed. I blamed it all on high gas prices for driving schools on waiting lists. It's common sense for first time learners for driving to have behind the wheel for car insurance reduction and most important safety of learning.

We are taking stands against greed as well. You people who signed this petition should sign mine if you haven't. The author of this petition should sign mine on the link as well if haven’t.

FYI When congressmen and senators go home on recess, it is not to take a vacation. It is to go back and meet with their constituents in person to receive their "marching orders" for the next session.
