I know first hand I had two premature babies, and I was able to stay with both of mind.there was an company that provide me with money and clothes while I was there..i think its important that a mother and father should be able to stay with there baby, the first few hour of a baby life is a bonding moments between a mother and child.

My daughter was born 16 weeks early was airlifted to the nearest level III over an hour away. That was and I I would not wish that on any one. God bless you all and your mission.

My youngest son now a little over three months old was born 6 weeks early and had to stay in the Mercy san juan nicu in sacramento for a few weeks after birth and I had to drive an hour and a half to see him every day for only a few hours. I would love to see a program go into effect to help mothers stay with their children because it was hell for me.

Thirty four years ago when our premature twins were born, they tried to transfer our babies to another hospital without an NICU. I fought then and I will always support and NICU and the incredible staff who love and keep our babies alive!

Good luck! As a former Pediatric ICU nurse in a major trauma & referral center, I was able to witness first hand how much it benefited both the children and the parents that the parents were able to be close by, plus that the parents were able to go home when they needed either to sleep in their own bed or to get a favorite toy. It can be much easier to convince parents to get the sleep they need so much when they realize that they are only a 15 min drive away instead of hours. I hope you get the signatures you need!

Our daughter was born at 25 weeks and 2 days. We lived a half hour away from the hospital and at least one parent was ALWAYS with her from 8 am to 9 pm EVERY day for 4 months. We did as much kangaroo care as possible. We watched other kids whose parents lived further away flounder. The babies know if their parents are there. Our child is a healthy 6 year old now. I guess the question to ask is does your governor care if your babies live or die? If he did, he would not make it harder for parents to be with their kids.

As the mother of a child who spent most of her life in NICU, PICU and CICU, I am a firm believer that a mother and father should have as much access to their child as possible. It is hard to form a bond with your child when the first days and months of the infants life is spent away from the arms of family. Sick babies NEED the loving touch of their mothers and fathers. I believe in the powers of healing touch. My daughter survived for 8 years and the majority of those years were spent in an...

It is hard to form a bond with your child when the first days and months of the infants life is spent away from the arms of family. Sick babies NEED the loving touch of their mothers and fathers. I believe in the powers of healing touch. My daughter survived for 8 years and the majority of those years were spent in an ICU. Had I not had immediate, sterile access to her I would have missed out on most of her life. PLEASE do not limit a parents time with their infant. One just never knows how much time is available.

I do want to add that every ICU my daughter was in was top notch. Our last days were spent in the CICU (Cardiovascular) at Arkansas Children's in Little Rock and the staff and care Mary Ashlee received was phenomenal. WHY? Because I was able to spend as much time with her as i could. Also, as we were from out of town, a Ronald McDonald house was directly across the street providing us with a room at a small fee OR whatever one could afford, whenever one could afford. I FULLY support this...
