Thank you for creating this petition. This affects several other NICU's in the state also. I would like for you to know this is supported by UAMS, ACH, ADH, and the governor. Baptist Med Center (and this is not where I work), did not have any say in these guidelines. The neo's there and at SVI were invited to attend meetings, which they did, but their voices were heard and ignored by the powers that be,, and the ultimate decision was made by our governor after listening to other's untruths....
as a momma whose twins stayed 17 days in the NICU - this time is critical for both babies & mommas. Please make sure the parents are able to stay in the NICU with their babies. It is tragic to go to the hospital expecting great things and having to leave your precious babies at the hospital because you were released.
My daughter was born at 25 weeks old, It is vital the parents are close and able to touch , hear, smell, feel their parents...My daughter is now a normal child with no issues of concern...
Wonderful to hear! Thank you for your support!
My first born who is 27 now, was 2lb 4oz. I had to be life flighted to Tulsa for the neo natal. I was told when I arrived that if they delivered, she would not live. She did live and the reasons why included the fact that she was not moved after she was born. Also girls have a better chance of living since they usually develop faster and are usually larger. The Dr. said probably the one thing that gave her the best chance was my morning sickness. Babies develop the urge to breathe...

The Dr. said probably the one thing that gave her the best chance was my morning sickness. Babies develop the urge to breathe regularly as one of the things since they get oxygen from the umbilical cord. When a mother is sick it depletes the oxygen the baby gets and causes them to try to breathe. This develops the lungs quicker. I never thought I would thank God for morning sickness morning, noon and night but I did.
What a great story...these are the outcomes we NICU Nurses live for! Thanks for your support!
It is to put it mildly not wise to remove an infant from its parents, for it needs its parents for survival. And to seprate twin infants / babies is also not wise... see the video The Divine Matrix from Gregg Braden at Youtube.
Thank you foriyour input and support!
As a mother of 4 all being premature this cause is especially important 2 me. My twins now 8 months had to stay in nicu for 2 wks in the next city 30 min away, that was hard enough ! I couldnt imagine a 3 hour trip every day
Thank you for your support!
Yes. So important. My son was in nicu for 8 days. 8 days I was there from early until 12midnight sometimes later. I did not see much parents there and they only spent 1 or 2 hours. What could've been more important?
Thank you for the support!
My twins were born 11 weeks premature in 1980. Back then they were considered very early. The
staff at the NICU at Dartmouth encouraged early bonding. As they grew stronger we became involved in their care. bathing, feeding, I later went on to help start a support group for parents. Support I did not have. Bless all that take care of these babies.
Thank you for sharing your story and your support!
Former NICU nurse. Strongly believe in this cause. My son, now 28 years old was transferred to a neonatal unit 30 minutes away. That seemed too far. Moms and babies need each other!
Thank you for your support!
My daughter was born 5 weeks early after my appendix ruptured i could not imagine of i wouldve had to travel to little rock to see my baby for weeks.
