Kashi, who funds this project, is owned by Kelloggs, and Kashi uses genetically modified foods, and foods that aren't organic. I wouldn't trust the Kellogg Corporation to teach anyone to eat healthily. They are probably encouraging poor people to eat their sugar and GMO filled, dairy drenched poison, all for the purpose of lining their own pockets. If you care about poor people and/or nutrition, DO NOT TAKE THIS POLL!

the biggest problem with finding healthy foods is GMOs. PERIOD. if they didn't allow GMOS without labeling it would be so much easier to shop with out having to put everything corn, canola, and soy derived back unless its organic or specifically GMO free. GMO's not being labeled is just annoying and totally BS since this is the U.S., the only developed nation that hasn't banned or required labeling. you can eat all the healthy foods you want, but when everything is Roundup Ready (yes roundup...

For meat eaters, they feed GMOs to the livestock, you are what you eat =/.

I am Roundup Ready. :)

Does that mean I am effective versus mosquitoes now?

I just started a full time job back in Corp. America after 10 years as a yoga teacher. What an eye opener! I never realized how much people don't know about nutrition. Even though the company I work for is small, 6 employees, only myself and the owner have any clue about healthy eating. I watch one woman drink a super sized coke every morning. I see people coming back with bagfuls of fast food with no nutritional value! Have you seen "Fat , Sick and Nearly Dead"? So I am doing my best to...

So I am doing my best to teach by example. So far I have talked to them about what exactly is in a soda, the difference between fast food and something cooked from scratch, and how to eat smaller meals to keep metabolism, and energy, up throughout the day. Of course yoga comes up constantly. But most of them don't exercise at all. I checked cost as the main obstacle to eating healthy. But like someone else mentioned, I eat only non-gmo and organic. Luckily there are two locally owned small organic supermarkets close by, just outside of Detroit. We also have farmers markets year round and a couple of Wholefoods and Trader Joes, as well. Guess I'm lucky to have access to whatever I can afford.

US food prices are the lowest in the developed world. One can have a healthy diet on a tight budget. It's true that such a diet won't have as much variety, but it can be done. When our organization tried to help people who said they would like to have a healthier diet on a budget, we found that part of the problem was buying too many convenience foods. We grow our own vegetables in the summer and then put them in the freezer or we can them, so we can have them throughout the year. We...

We grow our own vegetables in the summer and then put them in the freezer or we can them, so we can have them throughout the year. We have summer apples that have to have a lot cut out of them, but I freeze them or make wonderful apple sauce out of them. We offer them to people, but they don't want to be bothered. I know that a healthy diet on a buget can be time consuming and realize that some people really don't have the time. I'd rather be doing something else when I'm preparing food for winter, but it's a choice.

Finding healthy foods at a reasonable price is a major problem in the Black communities. Few supermarkets and many fast food joints. Supermarkets charge more than in other communities. It should not cost more to eat healthy but it does. There should be less salt, preservatives etc. in can foods and frozen foods quantities are more expensive.

I think in general, picking organic foods are more expensive. Obviously, education is a key factor; if you can grow your own veggies it is far less expensive than buying them at a store. Farmer's markets are not more expensive than grocery stores, but people have to be educated that it is worth it go go there instead of the corner supermarket. However, you can't usually grow your own meat, so buying healthy meat is a problem. I buy in quantity from a local farmer whom I trust, but it is much...
