For nineteen years I lived in the interior of China where the food available was that grown by local farmers. Shopping for food meant daily trips to the local market to buy what the local farmers had gathered that day. Now, back in Canada it is much more difficult and expensive to maintain the healthy diet I had in rural China. Sad.

Really the only obstacles to healthy eating are ignorance and laziness!

I have to say that I don't think any of the selections are true for Austin. I have found good selections of produce and fresh meats and seafoods in every part of the cityl.

I am a vegan and I don't think healthy food is more expensive. I buy all my produce from a local organic farmer. But here in Bermuda some ingredients such as organic lentils, etc. are hard to get because everything is imported.

I find that everything that is good for you is more expensive to buy, starting with Decafe, Anything lowcal is more expensive also, If you buy fresh fruits and vegetables you can save calories also. Cook your vegetables in a steamer, it takes longer but is better for you. If you must fry eggs, use Pam instead of margarine or butter, and you'll lower your cholesterol also. Also scrambled eggs are more Nutrisious than fried, try that.In addition after a meal take a brisk walk. Dancing fast also...

Dancing fast also helps with cardio exercise, This is what I do and eventhough I walk with a cane and have degenerative arthritis in both knees it helps. You will do what it takes to maintain a healthy lifestyle, if your really serious about losing weight and keeping it off. Cut down on red meats and sweets and try to avoid fast food venues when possible. I also gave up the salt shaker when pregnant with my lastchild and neverlooked back! Good luck in your health minded endeavors, Sincerely Raemona Mae Clark Largo Florida.

I would eat healthy if it were not exspensive. I would exercise too if they had something where I live.
