I agree they wouldn't do half the shit they do if they had to work for minimum wage and actually have to work all the time not go on vacation every two or three months. Perhaps a look at waste in government, including your paychecks and pensions need to be looked at before raising taxes on those who go to work every single day.
There is a movie, a "comedy", which best reflects my feelings. In that movie, "Dave", a mere look-alike for the President, finds himself actually being President. Who does he get to help untangle a fiscal mess - a good accountant. Maybe you need actual working people as your advisers instead of lobbyists and special interest groups. The Cabinet could use some of the same advice - someone who has successfully run a profitable business, a career police officer, a trained accountant. Let's get people in place who may not really want the job, but who can DO the job. I know, I'm too idealistic.

There are service men and women risking their lives 24 hours a day 7 days a week. I think these policy making knuckleheads can sit on their ass and do some work at least Monday through Friday. Absolutely unforgivable

Dear Employee (All government employees from President to part time intern janitor). The following change to your compensation package will be made effective immediately:

1. No employee will be sanctioned to alter, change, enhance, lobby, bribe or otherwise influence through direct or indirect methods to make changes to their benefits. Benefits to include salary, health & retirement benefits, holiday and vacation benefits, etc.
2. The above benefits will be defined by your employer. (We The People (WTP)).
3. All increases or decreases will be reflected by the following formula: +- = average +- to average change to equivalent private sector job description of all employees in the USA.
4. Per #4 above, your retirement, healthcare holiday and vacation will be subjected to the same increase or decrease. This will be easily and efficiently monitored and enforced per requirement 5 below.
5. You will enjoy the same Healthcare, retirement (ie. Formerly known as pension) will be transitioned into the existing government programs established for you employer. These programs are know to us WTP as “Social Security” and the “Affordable Care Act” commonly known as “ObamaCare”.
6. The ease the burden of this transition WTP will transfer all funds from you existing pensions, IRA’s, SEP’s, etc. into the existing Social Security Trust Fund.
7. To access your benefit information you may access the same state of the art benefit information hotline that WTP enjoy at: http://www.socialsecurity.gov/onlineservices/ and enter your private and secure personal PIN. (Hint: it is your Social Security Number).
8. Increases or changes will be announced periodically by a fellow colleague. Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA). Go to www.ssa.gov/cola.
9. Required travel and accommodations, food etc. will be reimbursed per standard WTP guidelines.
10. All unauthorized or disqualified expenses will not be reimbursed and will be subject to the same IRS guidelines that WTP enjoy. See http://www.irs.gov for details.
