I've read a few of these comments and the replies to them on this petition. This gun debate is getting exhausting. Exhausting because people are just talking mindlessly out of their asses. "Yer ain't gunna take my guns"... "I will take your guns, and your dog, and your kitchen knives.." "If you ban this, then you better ban that, and that, and this"... Come on people!! Are we really that divided that we can't have a civil, educated discussion about this with out jumping at each others...
Are we really that divided that we can't have a civil, educated discussion about this with out jumping at each others throats?? The fact is, is that we are all in the middle of a nation wide crisis. Our children are being preyed upon in their safe havens. Mothers shouldn't live in fear from the moment that their child gets on the school bus until the moment when they get off of that school bus. Mothers who live their lives to keep their children safe shouldn't have to bury their children who lost their lives in school shootings. There has to be some kind of common ground. We have to meet together on this. One persons feelings and thoughts on this topic shouldn't be and isn't more important or more right than the other with a completely different view. The high priority is for the children. Our children. Our future. Our most precious rays of sunshine and love. I am the spouse of a military veteran, I co-head a household with firearms, I am also a mother of 2 young children. And those 2 kids, their friends, your children are far more important to me than the m-16 locked in the gun cabinet. I mean honestly, outside of a combative situation, what is the purpose those assault riffles and high capacity mags hold? Seriously? I'm not trying to start a pro gun - anti gun debate here. The firearms you own aren't in question here. It's the accessibility of weapons to those with mental health issues, irresponsible gun ownership and the assault riffles. The meaning lies with in the name. Assault. When the 2nd amendment was written you had single shot weapons. Black powder. Flints. You were lucky and fortunate if your family even possessed one. ONE. You didn't have prepackaged ammunition ready to be loaded up in 30 + rounds ready to be fired with in seconds of each other. It makes me sick for gun owners to use that as their shield. And remember, I am a multi gun owner. "You can't change the constitution".... But you can change with the times as far as firearm power goes? So long as it benefits you? Doesn't make sense to me. There's got to be a middle ground from both sides. Instead of yelling at each other, take the time to listen, the time to understand what the other person is saying & feeling. Then the respect will be returned to you. We have to come together to protect our children. That is what this is all about.
I have no problem to honor the victims of this tragedy but if this initiative is meant to promote the ban of the right of the citizens to possess a gun..I won't fall for it. Weapons are by far not the main cause of fatal casualties...
It broke my heart seeing this happen. At night I hold my son closer and during the day we play harder. I hope I never have to go through losing joseph just like I hope its a long long time before he loses me. But ill make sure neither of us have regrets ab what we should have said or ahould have done.
I watched the coverage yesterday on CNN...such brave parents who only want to honor their lost loved ones not by being angry and political...but by having sensible conversations... on all topics. " We want to be remembered not as the town torn apart by this tragedy, but as the turning point" I PRAY for their success!
A horrific tradegy! More legislatiuon to keep guns out of the wrong hands and to improve our Mental Healthsystem. Both needs to happen to prevent further tragegies.
Realize this Martin. The petition states nothing about taking anything away and says everything about giving
To think that my sister lives only 18 miles away from where this took part. What is wrong with these crazed individuals who are bent on killing innocent children in schools. Surely much more must be done to protect these innocent children who attend these american schools from these mad people who randomly shoot to kill destroying the lives of families forever in their communities. In the UK schools have double security doors which are kept locked and anyone that wishes to enter can only do so by being booked in by the staff.
