I understand the feeling of why people feel the right to bear arms, but the way it has escalated to bearing mass murder machines is too much. My question is why? why do the people feel they need arms of mass descrutction? I do not believe that the right to bear arms was meant to have the ability to have these kinds of weapons. But why is this happening? What can we do about the why? I was born and raised in the US and felt it was the best place in the world..now many times now - I am...

Let's see how you feel after reading it. How would be the feeling if would be your son/daughter instead ?

I really feel terrible (yes I cried) about what happened to the children and the brave principal and teachers that were unable to stop or minimize this and other tragedy's because of the real reason, they were unarmed, untrained and unprotected by our government, even after all the events of previous school shootings, the neglect here is not sale of the "big magazines" or "cheap bullets" or "semi automatic weapons" or "video games" or even the "mentally ill" that's where our government wants...

BTW did you know all the SSA offices have an armed guard to protect the 5-10 employees. Our government that was not respondent to the NRA's suggestion after the last school shooting of adding a guard to the schools, is a contributing factor as well for our great loss here. The FAA trained and armed airline Pilots and to my knowledge the public fact of knowing the planes have a weapon to respond has completely stopped hijacking and I believe that would have the same effect for our schools as well. I do not agree that our schools should be full of guns either, accidents or misplaced weapons could cause a very bad situation, so one locked gun in a school safe that only the trained principal or trained vice principal would have access to and the rest of the administration personnel and teachers would be trained and have locked access to non lethal taser guns or something similar that will stop an attacker in their tracks, saving lives and bringing the attackers in for prosecution. So with all this said lets stop talking about this and lets get our kids protected before it happens again!

Everyone should look at the actual facts. Do not get them from the mainstream media or the NRA. Look up your own info and then make a decision. We can do that because we are free. That should not mean that the side with unlimited funds should make the policy for all of us. Just because you do not like it does not mean it should be banned. That is why there is no prayer in school. Same situation different agenda. Wake up.
Both sides are using this sad situation to further their agendas....

As a life long CT resident I am still in shock and mourning. On that fateful day I had begun wrapping Christmas gifts as the events unfolded. I viewed you, Mr. Paine on GMA this morning and completely honor and support your common sense and dialogue approach to seeking solutions.
