As a long time member of the NRA, and an AMERICAN who deeply believes in my 2nd Amendment Rights as a very conscientious gun owner and user (targets only, no animals, or people!), my heart goes out to those families and friends of those lost at Newtown, Sandy Hook, Fort Hood, Columbine, Sparks, and others, but we need more than worthless regulations and banning guns from responsible sportsmen (and women), we need help for these people that might show signs of instability, suicide, and other...

Guns are not the only weapons available to those that want to do harm to others. Just remember one thing, "Guns don't kill people, PEOPLE kill people!"

I want to know what Michael Landsberry's feelings were on arming themselves at school. Michael was the teacher murdered on the job in Sparks NV last week. He was an ex-marine who would have understood the importance of being able to defend himself, as well as a teacher. I'm thinking if he'd had a weapon on him he may have had a chance. I don't know. I'd like to know his thoughts.

I am saddened by the tragedy, but note update#3 "Sandy Hook Promise welcomes the broad focus of the President's proposals. We appreciate his decisive action to help address through Executive Order immediate opportunities for reform, and we applaud his broader commitment to finding meaningful common sense solutions to help prevent similar acts of violence in other communities in America.... I oppose this understanding that strong executive leadership means bypassing the normal checks and balances and throwing down the gauntlet with Executive orders. Obama is the President, he cannot act alone without due legislative process except when declaring war. Lets face it, getting rid of all guns in the U.S. is impossible, even if the law passed there would still be illegal guns, just as there are illegal drugs. I would support further restrictions on automatic weapons, but this will not prevent a premeditated mass murder. A murderer bent on killing will find a way. In China in 2010 a man killed 8 children at a school with a knife. Clearly human nature is the issue, not gun control. The bottom line is that it is impossible to protect all the people all of the time. If we put a security guard in every public school, what about the private schools? What about movie theaters? Football games? It is IMPOSSIBLE to protect everyone. I think the best step we can take is to become the best people we can be, and to become the change we want to see in the world. This problem cannot be solved by laws, only a return to faith in God.

I fail to see how this situation is any different than the countless lives of our children who are shot and killed or treated with disrespect and abused by the United States Police Force.
Society itself is the problem. They lie and cover up their issues instead of speaking the Truth and facing a problem head on.
Ignorance breeds violence.
Ignorance is a lack of understanding the Truth.
No matter how one looks at this situation, it is Ignorance what caused it. If only the right people had...

If only the right people had known, this could have been stopped... Or perhaps, if only the right people had paid attention, this could have quite possibly have been prevented.
Ignorance is a fatal human sin that cannot be cured, except by studying, paying attention to the Truth. Observing those around you and seeing reality for what it is and not for what you think it is.
If we want our children to be safe we have to make a pledge speak the Truth whenever the Truth requires speaking. Stand up for what is truly right and that which is wrong will fail.
Pay attention to those who suggest lower capacity ammunition, restrictions on automatic weapons and anything pertaining to your right to defend yourself.
Emotions are high and this subject is sensitive, but if there are any orders to take guns from people there will be an all out war. Many people will look at what I just said and scoff, perhaps some of you think this is in the wrong place... You are wrong... If you want to feel safe you need to learn how to defend yourself and not rely on a police officer, because they are not obligated to protect you.
Watch this video and tell me if you still think regulations need to be placed on the right to bear arms.

I hope some good can come out of so many people's grief where gun violence is concerned. There are many people all across America who believe in what you have started-stand strong and keep the faith. We are behind you 100%.

All I saw by the President was about gun control. Nothing about dealing with mentally ill people or improving security at schools. Nothing the President or the Vice President proposed would have had any effect on what occurred at Sandy Hook. No comprehensive solution was proposed. Only Lae abiding Americans who believe in 2nd amendments rights were asked to sacrifice.

I'VE SIGNED THE PROMISE AND ENCOURAGE MY FRIENDS TO ALSO SIGN. UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE A SOCIETY WITH MANY SICK PEOPLE LIKE THE PERSON WHO COMMITTED THIS CRIME. SIGNING OR NOT SIGNING IS NOT GOING TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM, BUT SIGNING WILL SHOW OUR FELLOW CITIZENS THAT WE ARE TRYING TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND WILL BE LOOKING OUT FOR ONE ANOTHER.
