reimburse the council and the community so they may move the centre brick x brick to a new area.
They only need to demolish for parking and storage. The station is nowhere near the Hills Centre. It is further toward the showground. The Hills Council sold the Hills centre and offices to the State Government as it was no longer viable. There is plenty of room for parking around the building. If not, park on the oval. They can move the show to another venue for a year or 2. This is a total waste.
Good on you Julie - I've only recently found out about this and I will be getting involved - what a disgrace - the local papers are only printing propaganda - Ed U
Its a bit late for this is it not? The leasing on this property stops in may.
Actually. The new plans haven't been approved yet.
I can remember this.It is not that old.
Beverly Herbert please sign the petition! It was built in 1988 - not that old for a commercial building!
Sign to save beautiful classy venue.
My two girls had all their Castle Hill PS concerts here. Very fond memories.
The Hills Centre has been home to many schools and community groups over the past 20 years. I have personally seen my child's school perform in Rock Concerts, participated school presentation nights and watched theatre. There is nowhere else this size available to community groups anywhere in greater Sydney.
Retention of Showground and stables is very important as they are used extensively however there would appear to be other solutions than removal of a significant centre - with the Chatswood to Epping rail link there would have been similar issues as this was in a significantly more built up area. It would appear that the solution being suggested here is a simple one and designed to set one group up against another - Centre v Showground rather than looking at al alternatives.
I agree with Denyan but will sign...who knows!
