Ms. Caitlin, I am afraid the word hatred doesn't exist in any form in most First Nation tongues (not in Delaware, Ojibway, Oneida, or Chippewa). Respect is taught in our First Nation teachings. Not mutual or slef or any other kind of respect but just respect. Catoregizing things is something Westernized educated persons tend to do. We learn respect, caring, sharing, and honesty on our First Nation territories before we are 4 or 5 years old. We can lose respect and gain it back but we cannot...

In other words, those things we have learned are paths towards a good life, some times we wander from these paths BUT never by choice and usually by manipulation (force or control) and exploitation (dangling the carrot/money/gifts in front of our noses).

Sharon Lewis AND...what does that teach us? They have several varied and colorful words to express hate, very few words for respect. This makes me so sad, we are people too, just as much as white people, we have a right to a certain degree of quality of life and respect. But I don't hate my enemies, nor do I think of anyone as enemy, they are just people who don't understand or don't want to see past themselves.

What beautiful teaching. Thank you :0). I love First Nation tounges (im only familiar with one though)
I feel that it promotes the outflow from the heart and one cannot speak untrue things.
Its a harsh contrast to the political rhetoric we are fed with on every day basis.

Don't teach tolerance or anything but give the example. Children don't need to be taught tolerance but be treated with tolerance so they will keep doing what is natural for them.
How would you teach tolerance? by punishment and reward, the same way we've been domesticated ourselves?
You cannot give what you don't have.
Besides... being tolerant to the intolerant is preaching by the example.

The only thing that bugs me about this letter is the heading "Your Excellency Honourable... Governor of Canada" which sounds so submissive. Like if he was somehow superior and more honorable than we are.
Is it that without that heading, the letter would not be read?
I am a Canadian resident but comes from a country without kings or queens.
This is quite ridiculous, to beg for piety from these criminal rulers.
It is not that I hate them, because it would be unhealthy to do that, but lets call a horse a horse and a spade a spade.

Racisms and their subsequent hatreds are so small minded and idiotic, I am shocked they still exist at this magnitude considering how far we have progressed in our education and moral standards today. The mental state that dwells on racism must be a residual DNA link to the neanderthals from ancient times. We are all human, no matter our race, color or creed. We all are born the same, live life the same, feel the same emotions, pains and loves and in the end we all experience death the same,...

We all are born the same, live life the same, feel the same emotions, pains and loves and in the end we all experience death the same, no one is getting out of here alive. Humanity must endevour to identify with all of our human commonality, and in doing so grow up and progress, becoming a more responsible loving and compassionate species as we are meant to be. Racism is a learned thing and its not cool. Its disgusting and juvenile and its up to all of us when we see of it or hear of it to step in and put and end to it. We can do better and its up to each and every one of us to get to it.

Furthermore, we need to ask ourselves why we label peoples, subsequently causing segragations and inequalities within society. Such makes little sense when we are all members of the same race of beings. To be human is to be human. The seperation of one group of humans from another for any reason whatsoever serves only as an incitement for racisms and hatreds. In todays world we should be far above such juvenilities as seperatist analysis and seperatist behaviours. As humans, we all deserve...
