Ms. Caitlin, I am afraid the word hatred doesn't exist in any form in most First Nation tongues (not in Delaware, Ojibway, Oneida, or Chippewa). Respect is taught in our First Nation teachings. Not mutual or slef or any other kind of respect but just respect. Catoregizing things is something Westernized educated persons tend to do. We learn respect, caring, sharing, and honesty on our First Nation territories before we are 4 or 5 years old. We can lose respect and gain it back but we cannot...

We learn respect, caring, sharing, and honesty on our First Nation territories before we are 4 or 5 years old. We can lose respect and gain it back but we cannot lose something we do not have. In other words, those things we have learned are paths towards a good life, some times we wander from these paths BUT never by choice and usually by manipulation (force or control) and exploitation (dangling the carrot/money/gifts in front of our noses).

Sharon Lewis AND...what does that teach us? They have several varied and colorful words to express hate, very few words for respect. This makes me so sad, we are people too, just as much as white people, we have a right to a certain degree of quality of life and respect. But I don't hate my enemies, nor do I think of anyone as enemy, they are just people who don't understand or don't want to see past themselves.

What beautiful teaching. Thank you :0). I love First Nation tounges (im only familiar with one though)
I feel that it promotes the outflow from the heart and one cannot speak untrue things.
Its a harsh contrast to the political rhetoric we are fed with on every day basis.

Nobody should ever be discrimnated against in their own country, especially if they are native to the country. The first people in the United States discriminated against the native people of North America( Indian Tribes). It was very wrong. They should have worked with the native people. The government of the United States have had to make amends for the wrongs which have been done. I personally do not think enough has been done. I would urge all countries to learn from the mistakes of...

I would urge all countries to learn from the mistakes of other countries have made in the past and do not make those same mistakes because there is no excuse. May God help you see how all of the native people and citizens of Canada should be respected.

When will we ever have peace? All the Native American History and Native law classes that I have taken during my four years in college, I read a lot on hatred and greed that the White Man has towards the Native Americans. When we start to do well they decide to take it away, when we make the money, they decide they want it all. When will we ever please these people, when will they start focusing on better things to do? WHAT MORE DO THEY WANT? It should be the Natives taking control of the...

It should be the Natives taking control of the United States, since it was and still is originally ours in the first place.

A Native American Chief, Theresa Spence has been fasting since 12 Dec 2012, asking to discuss the treaties with the Government reps. Does anyone know of a petition to support her and her cause more directly?
