Ms. Caitlin, I am afraid the word hatred doesn't exist in any form in most First Nation tongues (not in Delaware, Ojibway, Oneida, or Chippewa). Respect is taught in our First Nation teachings. Not mutual or slef or any other kind of respect but just respect. Catoregizing things is something Westernized educated persons tend to do. We learn respect, caring, sharing, and honesty on our First Nation territories before we are 4 or 5 years old. We can lose respect and gain it back but we cannot...

We learn respect, caring, sharing, and honesty on our First Nation territories before we are 4 or 5 years old. We can lose respect and gain it back but we cannot lose something we do not have. In other words, those things we have learned are paths towards a good life, some times we wander from these paths BUT never by choice and usually by manipulation (force or control) and exploitation (dangling the carrot/money/gifts in front of our noses).

Sharon Lewis AND...what does that teach us? They have several varied and colorful words to express hate, very few words for respect. This makes me so sad, we are people too, just as much as white people, we have a right to a certain degree of quality of life and respect. But I don't hate my enemies, nor do I think of anyone as enemy, they are just people who don't understand or don't want to see past themselves.

What beautiful teaching. Thank you :0). I love First Nation tounges (im only familiar with one though)
I feel that it promotes the outflow from the heart and one cannot speak untrue things.
Its a harsh contrast to the political rhetoric we are fed with on every day basis.

We must be careful about the way we handle the negotiations of the Indian Act, especailly towards the First Nation Peoples. True the Act is rascist but what do you expect when the Prime Minister in the mid-1870's requested the assistance of the Dutch author of the South African's Aparteid Act to come to Canada to help him write the Indian Act Some of those sections (particularly 53 to 60) management of our lands, resources and membership must be protected. Harper is done as Canada's leader and wants to go into history as something other than a weak leader. He wants historical significance, what politician doesn't want that. But he is about to be known as one leader that the World sees as a tyrant and liar.

What is up with this. White man came and took over their land and you are going to turn around and hate them still until this day. Unbelievable. I am part Cherokee, Indians taught the white man a lot once they could get past the hatred and come together as brother and sisters. There should not be hatred for any race, nationality, orgin, etc. It is hard to swallow that this is happening to Indians in this world today. Sending love, light, and energy to all Indians, no matter where they have found a new homestead, for we pushed them off their lands and tookover. Your friend Pam, "Spirit of Light".

The only thing that bugs me about this letter is the heading "Your Excellency Honourable... Governor of Canada" which sounds so submissive. Like if he was somehow superior and more honorable than we are.
Is it that without that heading, the letter would not be read?
I am a Canadian resident but comes from a country without kings or queens.
This is quite ridiculous, to beg for piety from these criminal rulers.
It is not that I hate them, because it would be unhealthy to do that, but lets call a horse a horse and a spade a spade.
