Does anyone have an update on this cause? It is very important and I wanted to know if anything has been done or did it reach the mayor etc?

To Date they will not provide signage or share correct information on the animals at Brooks.

What is the signage Jami? Please thank you for getting back to me I sign these periods all the time and don't know results but this one is close to home and our community and it stood out to me bc I've been to brooks and it is so sad there I think if every person drove down there they would understand, anyway thank you! You are the main organizer for this petition rt?

Change starts everyone being aware and taking action. Contact your city council the mayor, and Kathy Davis,ACS director. Tell your friends, and family about Brooks. They kill these dogs everyday. Doesn't matter if they have kennel space or not. The dogs get three days hold by law, on that third day don't be suprised if half the dogs there are sitting in the killing kennels waiting their turn. Thank you for supporting a Brooks Dog.

Just where is this shelter? Is it part of ACS? Is it new? I've been fostering/rescuing for years in San Antonio and have never heard of it.

Jeanine, this facility is on the Brooks City Base. It is VERY difficult to find and when you drive up , it mostly looks like an abandoned junk yard. The buildings are more like trailers or sheds, that look like they are only supposed to be temporary. It does not look well maintained and there is no where as a rescuer that you can take a dog out of their cage and do a proper evaluation

Ginger, I don't live in SA any longer if that is what you are talking about but I go each week out to Brooks, take pictures of the dogs, walk them, play with them, collect 100's of blankets for them and supplies that doesn't cost the city anything. I also pray with each dog when I am there that they know for at least that moment in time regardless of what happens to them that someone loved them and cared enough about them to actually be there. I do not hide the fact I don't live in SA...

I do not hide the fact I don't live in SA anymore after 5 years of being a homeowner and paying taxes. I also work in Bexar County and since so few people in the Bexar county actually try to help the Brooks dogs, I have not stopped helping them even though I am Comal County (and yes, I do stuff here too). You are entitled to your opinion and I respect that and yes I have spoken to the leaders you mention as well as other community players. All I would simply ask is before you declare yourself an animal lover who is so knowledgeable about Brooks...you actually go out there ...just once...and see for yourself. When you look into the eyes of the dogs who have no time left and they are literally BEGGING for help, until you see how hard it is to find them that help and until you see the sign in sheet where NO one has come out there, then you can tell me I am wasting my time. But until you actually, do it for yourself, the fact that you are so closed minded is very sad. I would think an animal lover would want to know for certain.

Closed mind on the subject of Brooks, Ginger. By the way, If you actually went to Brooks you would know that their is a trailer there that you must go to the check in, you would also know what the kennels look like. I didn't ask you about where you volunteer nor do I care. This subject is in regards to Brooks no more, no less.

Ginger, I recommend you visit Brooks Animal Shelter for yourself and then come back to share your experience. Unless you have been there for yourself and experienced what I and many others have experienced then you would not understand.

I don't think it is appropriate or respectful for someone to call me a liar, Ginger. Why are you so inflammatory in your responses? If you don't want to be a part of making this change, then don't be. I don't think it is necessary for you to be on here asking me if I am telling the truth and I don't appreciate the personal question of my character. Please leave the conversation if you intend on continuing this

Ginger show us a up date about how these dogs are being given more space? Your so fast to jump the gun on this do you work there to help? There must be something wrong or this would have never came up and I know this for a fact. So get it Changed so more animals will live.

Ginger, Where on the ACS website do you see Brooks publicized? Have you been out to the facility? With my GPS, it took me 25 minutes to find where Brooks is located when I was already on the base. How do these dogs get saved without anyone going there? This is a petition to get Brooks pubilcized so that people can find out how to go out there and save these dogs. And There are NO signs that lead you to the Brooks location, so I'm not sure where you are getting your information, but it is a pretty hidden place. Again, have you been there?

Wow Ginger, you really are uneducated about Brooks. 1000's of adoptable animals have gone through there in the last 9 months alone -1000's!!! BROOKS IS NOT A QUARANTINE FACILITY! Just take the time to educate yourself. Look at https://www.facebook.com/BrooksBabiesArf....just look at the animals out there. Its because people think like you do and use their "2nd Hand Knowledge" instead of actually going out there and seeing for themselves. Would you like a map? Oh wait, you already know how...

This petition has gotten started to help the dogs get out alive because unfortunately, to many people don't have the correct info.

Ginger, go out there and tell me how long it takes to you find the ACS facilty once you are on base. Also being a lover of "reality and truth" I suggest that all who would like to know more about this facilty go there and take a look for themselves. Or, you can get your information from the Media and ACS, because that information is always factual and correct, right?

Ginger, if you read my first post, that you actually commented on, you would see that I have been out there and the office that they use is a trailer, like a trailer home. How do you know what it looks like if you have never been there. No one is saying that the issue of animals in this city is solely because of this facility. But it is going to take attention to multiple areas to improve things. Yes, people need to be responsible and spay and neuter their pets. Yes, the laws in place have...

And yes, my tax dollars that go to pay for an animal shelter, should go to one that is easily accessible and publicly discussed.

I just got off the phone with ACS and 210-207-6654, after a few call attempts, and they gave me the number to Brooks faciity 210-296-8173 and the address is 3722 Stealth Rd. Maybe this information can be added to the ACS website! How hard is it to add this info and maybe a map, contact person? I do not know!

Lynda...that is one of the things being asked for. I post the map that someone else created on my page with directions because a GPS doesn't work and will get you lost. There are no signs up either that indicate that the shelter is even there. I think the address is really 2634 Stealth Rd. Here is a map for reference that is what I use on my page in case you need them. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=323198847796167&set=a.203097406472979.43817.203090186473701&type=1&theater

That's all we are asking for! Why did it take several attempts? What's the big secret? I think it boils down to ACS not wanting the public to think they can drop off dogs there etc, because apparently we are all idiots. My personal issue with that is the beautiful dogs that ARE there now waiting to be adopted. It IS a holding cell before euthanasia. THANK THE LORD FOR PEOPLE LIKE KELLY (BrooksBabies-ARF (adopt, foster, rescue) who have bought awareness and the team at Tracy's Dogs, and the...

Something MUST be done about this. 1000's of healthy adoptable dogs have died this year alone at the Brooks facility and for what? How hard is it to make Brooks public? The only reason a very very small portion of them made it out alive is because a dear sweet woman for the past nine months has taken it upon herself to create albums of the dogs whose euthanization dates are quickly approaching and begging people to share the albums. There needs to be more education about spay/neutering,...

There needs to be more education about spay/neutering, even more cost friendly programs and HARSH punishment for the abuse of animals in this city. It is out of control. Let's get this done. It can be done.

This is insanity - one more time. How can you have a shelter where you do not let people know you have animals? So, basically, it's a killing container! This must be changed! These are lives we're talking about - not things!

Please stop this, it is horrible!! You can do better, you have the resources and people want to help! People all over the US want these dogs, why would you let them have a chance at life? This is not what Texas used to be about. This is not what Texas used to stand for. This is not about people, it's not about ego, it's not about who's right and who's wrong... it's about beautiful, loving animals that just want a home. Why can't we work toward this with all hands on deck?
