~ A WORD ABOUT SELF REPRESENTATION ~.
The Sixth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution has been interpreted to provide EVERY AMERICAN with the CONSTITUTIONAL right to self-representation, if they so choose. That privilege, like all other constitutional rights, should be enjoyed without fear of harassment, prejudice, or abuse. Furthermore, no law, regulation, or policy should exist to abridge or surreptitiously extinguish that right.

Self-Represented Litigants have no less of a right to FAIR and MEANINGFUL due process under the federal and state constitutions as those individuals who choose to utilize an attorney for their legal affairs and issues. In fact, NOWHERE in any state or federal constitution does it specify that the hiring of a lawyer is a prerequisite to exercising one's due process rights. Democratic principles dictate that we have the right to freely choose between self-representation and hiring a lawyer to handle our legal matters without suffering humiliation, prejudice, or penalization. After all, it is the parties to the litigation that ultimately have to deal with the consequences of the case's outcome, and not the judge or the lawyers involved in the matter.

Contrary to the view of certain judges and lawyers, those who opt to litigate their own legal matters without an attorney are NOT second-class citizens deserving of contempt and injustice. Instead, they are BRAVE CITIZENS with an inalienable right to have their legal causes adjudicated objectively and justly -- with or without a lawyer. Self-representation can be a difficult, time-consuming, and often frightening experience, especially for those burdened by demanding work schedules, family responsibilities, and other obligations of day-to-day living. Accordingly, those who engage in the difficult task of self-litigation should be REVERED for their COURAGE and DEDICATION, not scorned or abused.

We also need to amass momentous opposition against those persons, agencies, and institutions who, in the interest of protecting huge profits, careers, and prestige, subject self-litigants to a hostile and often abusive litigation atmosphere calculated to suppress self-representation and force people to become completely and financially dependent on lawyers to gain "paid" access to a taxpayer-funded legal system.

And everything they say herein is true, and yet, we men are disposable. First by the Ex, the the courts, then society as a whole. Yet, we are told that we hold all the power in US society, and we are hated for it. So Victimize the victim, or insult to injury.

Take a minute to watch this video. It tells a great truth. I have ministered to many young adults who have had little or no father figure in their homes. My own step-children call me for advice and respect my input and love in their lives. They are as much a part of my family as my own children; they are my children. I have been blessed. Fatherless families should have the same chance. I have seen bitter divorces where one or the other parent has made false claims against the other...

I have seen bitter divorces where one or the other parent has made false claims against the other parent in order to stop joint custody or as retaliation for the divorce. The children lose..... I am ministering to a family now where the father has shown absolutely love and adoration for his children; the marriage is broken and he fears that the kids will be taken from him; no visitation; to contact. He is un-employed; has low self-esteem; He has turned to the Lord for help and to my wife and I for some guidance. Let us pray that this will work out for him, his wife and children. How many more testimonies like this and others posted are there? Too many to count.

Family court reform is long overdue. It has been very unfair for over 25 years in my case already.

I AGREE! My son just turned 29 in December. NO FIT AND WILLING PARENT SHOULD EVER HAVE TO FIGHT TO SHARE IN THE LIVES OF THEIR CHILDREN. Even the thought of having to do so is preposterous, how it is that we arrived at this point in time? How it is that we have allowed these actions by our family courts is beyond comprehension. How it is that this has been going on for so long and we as parents are not rioting in the streets is unbelievable.

How can this happen? If the repo man comes for a car, he stands a great chance of getting shot. Yet CPS comes knocking at the door OR, they are even such sub-standard beings that they even show up at the hospitals delivery rooms or birthing centers and take children stating, "Well, we took the older child, we may as well take this one too". I can not imagine allowing such an act to take place without a struggle that would certainly result in my being incarcerated.

I am again at that point in time, these actions can not be allowed to continue without all of us standing up and say, "No, More" we must have a change in the manner in which this country's anti-family courts conduct business.

Thanks and Peace

I grew up without dad. I feel these effects of fatherlessness first hand. My children will now suffer them too.
