If one more person tells me that "Guns don't kill people...people kill people" I am going to scream. THEY ARE KILLING THEM WITH GUNS! So let's drop the flawed logic and save some lives...please.

Guns do not kill people it is the bullets shot out of the guns used by the hoicidal maniacs in the NRA that kill. Guns will only kill people if they are used as truncheons. But bullets DO kill people rgularly.

so with your logic: cars, alcohol, cigarettes, baseball bats, bombs, airplanes, fists, legs, chairs, electric sockets, ropes, needles, etc. should also be banned

no Andrew, not electrical sockets. Gun control advocates are much more rational than your rebuttals are. (cigarettes, yes..ban them too)

Now lets say that guns are forcibly taken from bad guys and good guys. Bad guys are still going to get their hands on them one way or another. OR they will use knives. Now take a look at the UK. Since their government confiscated guns, violent crime actually increased especially stabbings, murder and robbery. Not even police carry guns anymore. But had she been legalyl able to carry one as she was several years ago, she would be alive right now. Now I'll let you use your creativity to try to comfort the grieving family who needlessly lost their daughter/sister/wife/mother.

Your ignorance does your position no value. The UK has never had gun ownership rights like those in the USA, so they've never "confiscated" guns that Brits have never had. In addition, until rather recently only special police carried weapons at all in the UK, and to the best of my knowledge most Bobbies still enforce the law without carrying guns. Finally, your hypothetical victim in actuality would have had a better than 60% of having her weapon used on her by the (hypothetical?)...

This issue is not simply black and white, but one fact is very, very clear with a great deal of historical precedent: Violence begets violence. If the answers are not simple, then it is our responsibility to seek responsible answers. And if confiscating guns from law-abiding citizens is no answer to violence, neither are 100-bullet ammo clips of positive value to ANYONE!

We regulated cigarettes we can regulate guns. This was not an accident, this was inevitable. If you fall asleep with a lit cigarette every night, one day you will wake up to a house burning around you.
1) Semi-automatics, and automatics belong with the military NOT civilians.
2) A registry system that licenses, and checks your proficiency, mental health and storage unit every 6 months.
3) People with guns in their homes need to put signs in their yard, so we can decide not to visit.

5) Steeper penalties for people who have guns without the above (criminals).
6) Felons and people with abuse charges (animal or human) may not have guns.
7) One year to get yourself right with the law or you are liable for the consequences (fuck the buy back!)
8) Guns may only be sold in a GUN STORE. ABC for liquor, XYZ for guns.
And no I don't want guards at my kids school. Any more than I want to raise my kid in prison. Although there are some benefits for a kid to be with their parent as much as possible, there are some benefits to a kid thinking their world is safe as possible too.

Just to remind people what an insane turd La Pierre is. Even Bush Sr. resigned the NRA because of his insanity:

Letter of Resignation Sent By Bush to Rifle Association.

Following is the letter of resignation sent by former President George Bush to the National Rifle Association: May 3, 1995.

Dear Mr. Washington,

I was outraged when, even in the wake of the Oklahoma City tragedy, Mr. Wayne LaPierre, executive vice president of N.R.A., defended his attack on federal agents as “jack-booted thugs.” To attack Secret Service agents or A.T.F. people or any government law enforcement people as “wearing Nazi bucket helmets and black storm trooper uniforms” wanting to “attack law abiding citizens” is a vicious slander on good people.

Al Whicher, who served on my [ United States Secret Service ] detail when I was Vice President and President, was killed in Oklahoma City. He was no Nazi. He was a kind man, a loving parent, a man dedicated to serving his country — and serve it well he did.

In 1993, I attended the wake for A.T.F. agent Steve Willis, another dedicated officer who did his duty. I can assure you that this honorable man, killed by weird cultists, was no Nazi.

John Magaw, who used to head the U.S.S.S. and now heads A.T.F., is one of the most principled, decent men I have ever known. He would be the last to condone the kind of illegal behavior your ugly letter charges. The same is true for the F.B.I.’s able Director Louis Freeh. I appointed Mr. Freeh to the Federal Bench. His integrity and honor are beyond question.

Both John Magaw and Judge Freeh were in office when I was President. They both now serve in the current administration. They both have badges. Neither of them would ever give the government’s “go ahead to harass, intimidate, even murder law abiding citizens.” (Your words).

I am a gun owner and an avid hunter. Over the years I have agreed with most of N.R.A.’s objectives, particularly your educational and training efforts, and your fundamental stance in favor of owning guns.

However, your broadside against Federal agents deeply offends my own sense of decency and honor; and it offends my concept of service to country. It indirectly slanders a wide array of government law enforcement officials, who are out there, day and night, laying their lives on the line for all of us.

You have not repudiated Mr. LaPierre’s unwarranted attack. Therefore, I resign as a Life Member of N.R.A., said resignation to be effective upon your receipt of this letter. Please remove my name from your membership list.

Sincerely,

[ signed ] George Bush.

And now as I return to my hometown of Rochester, an ex-murderer killed firemen with military grade weapons as they responded to a fire he set as a trap. What a sad state of affairs for Senator Reid to cower to the NRA, when he has been a champion of so many good things. I hold him and all our elected leaders responsible for this carnage. Political inaction enables the actions of these horrible human beings, therefore blood is on their hands too. How many more have to die?
