We need to teach our boys and men how real men treat women from the time they are born. The effort must begin now in our families, cities, states and the country. We will not tolerate this shameful behaviour any more. No more excuses will be tolerated. Come on India, ensure safety, respect and dignity for ALL your daughters.

Yes indeed.....showing respect towards women has to start at home. In addition, a nation-wide drive to sensitize men on the issue of gender discrimination.... sexual violence against girls and women must be taken up on a war footing....not just in cities.....but in rural areas as well.....in the form of hoardings, posters, media adverts.,.....in every possible way, so it is deeply ingrained in the male mind that women have to be respected. It will take time...but it must start NOW.

need to take care of the raped and abused women and children in the United States before I could possibly sign a petition to help other countries. That is what is wrong with our country today take care of the other nations and ignore the problems we have here at home. Why adopt children from other nations when we have so many that need a home and love, why feed other nations when we have people here starving why build other nations homes when we have so many homeless. That poor woman needs justice for her family! What kind of people act in such a horrendous way? India needs to abandon it's ancient beliefs about women! It starts with arranged marriages, child marriages and dowerys! Women are taught they are objects to be used by men!

I have lived in India and this is my opinion. In India, young men get to have sex "officially" when they get married, as do women. Sexuality needs to be looked at as a whole, and not just blame blindly. Rape is not good, but it is a consequence of a tabooed society. The West is partly to blame with the advent of the internet and PORN. Young indian men have free access to PORN from America and Europe. As a consequence, when they see a Western woman in India, they think they can touch her...

Sexuality needs to be looked at as a whole, and not just blame blindly. Rape is not good, but it is a consequence of a tabooed society. The West is partly to blame with the advent of the internet and PORN. Young indian men have free access to PORN from America and Europe. As a consequence, when they see a Western woman in India, they think they can touch her freely. Ask any white girl who has visited India, 100% will say they have been groped.

I first went to India 13 years ago. There were no magazines or billboards with half naked women. Nowadays, it is everywhere. Putting this kind of visual bait in front of young boys and men, who come from a very repressed sexual culture is torture.

However WRONG their actions may be, it is no more than a consequence. So instead of just arrogantly blaming "them", try seeing the bigger picture.

Just as an counter example, in France, many posters bear beautiful breasts. However, the French are more open-minded and sex is very casual, so there is an outlet for this kind od visual content. But for the Indian culture, it is not appropriate. As much as a BURQA is France is frowned at! Get my drift?

however I don't agree that the prime Minister mr manmohansigh , & mrs Sonia Gandhi did not do anything . In the history of Independence this is first time that such high status office has gone to receive the dead body of rape victim! . This is first time in the history of Indian police administration has worked fast. They took years to file case against terrorist , those who attached the subprime hall of parliament of India .
