All violence against everyone must be stopped. It's time to bring back the 'Criminals Swing Dance': a.k.a. Public Hanging for those guilty, without any doubt, of violent crimes such as this against everyone.

hanging is violent. If you use violence to quell violence, we end up living in a terrorist world as we do now. If you hang a criminal, you are no different from a rapist. In fact you are probably worst as you take life. If you encourage others to have the right to kill, what's stopping the rapist from feeling he has the right to rape, or kill, or both?

Do you think it only happens in India? It happens everywhere even in North America? All the people of the entire earth has to stop thinking that women are second. We women are human beings and we are equal to men. Men and women have to have respect for each other.

Yes we need to do something but getting angry and putting criminals to death is not the way to go. Fighting violence with violence isn't going to work. But sadly very few believe that. Even India's Buddha and Ghandi cannot convince the people of the futility of such archaic and barbaric methods of justice. A man rapes a women because he has no love. To help him we need to teach him how to love. It starts from within ourselves. Joining hands to raise our anger and chant for capital...

Joseph Viruthiyel ,but you see, they ARE men. Only men can do this thing. Only HUMANS can be so brutal. Only humans can be so inhumane. We need to cherish our fellow humans who are fighting the good fight for the safety of women the world over. As Gautam Bhattacharjee said, we all need to join hands and raise our voices to the governments until they can no longer ignore the imperative put before them.

Joseph Viruthiyel . Most Indians ,including me are. So, we deserve to be hanged/shot/tortured and what not. And so many of our politicians are accused of rape. Our courts delay judgement. Gradually my faith on peaceful efforts has waned. Why has Govt not called for a special parliament session and amended the law, of course after due consultation with the experts? But it only watched when our young people were Lathi charged.

Violence is not to be tolerated no matter what. I feel this is especially true in countries such as India where women are at high risk of being violated and noone to speak for them. I'm speaking out in Canada for them.

I speak out against these atrocities every chance I get. We must keep up the agitation - it's the only way it will stop, as others have already said. Who is raising these men who commit such atrocities? That's where it starts - educating boys from a very early age about the human rights of ALL people and that they don't have the right to use such violence - against anyone!

Can you please also speak for women of Occupied Kashmir, for decades Indian Army and police have used rape as an intimidation tool and have committed vicious crimes against Muslim women, but no one listen to us and the matter always gets brushed off. Please remember Kashmiri women too, they are also victims of same disrespectful culture.

Sir I would like to bring to your notice if you are not aware of the fact that crime happens in India, Its not a surprise it's by choice, existing law is sufficient for the crime but what is lacking is its execution............. so whatever changes you decide to bring in the law will never be efficient unless be it executed...............share this message if you too feel its right; else it is as it was and will always be.

Yes indeed.....showing respect towards women has to start at home. In addition, a nation-wide drive to sensitize men on the issue of gender discrimination.... sexual violence against girls and women must be taken up on a war footing....not just in cities.....but in rural areas as well.....in the form of hoardings, posters, media adverts.,.....in every possible way, so it is deeply ingrained in the male mind that women have to be respected. It will take time...but it must start NOW.

That poor woman needs justice for her family! What kind of people act in such a horrendous way? India needs to abandon it's ancient beliefs about women! It starts with arranged marriages, child marriages and dowerys! Women are taught they are objects to be used by men!

I have lived in India and this is my opinion. In India, young men get to have sex "officially" when they get married, as do women. Sexuality needs to be looked at as a whole, and not just blame blindly. Rape is not good, but it is a consequence of a tabooed society. The West is partly to blame with the advent of the internet and PORN. Young indian men have free access to PORN from America and Europe. As a consequence, when they see a Western woman in India, they think they can touch her...

Sexuality needs to be looked at as a whole, and not just blame blindly. Rape is not good, but it is a consequence of a tabooed society. The West is partly to blame with the advent of the internet and PORN. Young indian men have free access to PORN from America and Europe. As a consequence, when they see a Western woman in India, they think they can touch her freely. Ask any white girl who has visited India, 100% will say they have been groped.

I first went to India 13 years ago. There were no magazines or billboards with half naked women. Nowadays, it is everywhere. Putting this kind of visual bait in front of young boys and men, who come from a very repressed sexual culture is torture.

However WRONG their actions may be, it is no more than a consequence. So instead of just arrogantly blaming "them", try seeing the bigger picture.

Just as an counter example, in France, many posters bear beautiful breasts. However, the French are more open-minded and sex is very casual, so there is an outlet for this kind od visual content. But for the Indian culture, it is not appropriate. As much as a BURQA is France is frowned at! Get my drift?
