India needs to come into the 21st century very fast. Quit acting like neanderthals. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Yes, it is tolerated in most of the less consuming nations.Girl children have little value, including in China. How about those people in our Congress and Senate who voted against the Violence Against Women Act here in the United States? Are we going to re-elect them?

Home minister spoke about remedial steps to address the rape issue, he says all buses will be scanned, strict action will be taken about perpetrators, buses will be impounded so on... I fail to understand does he and the PM of India thinks that all future rapes will hapen in Delhi buses only. How can we allow a statement like this? Why should rape be put in rarest of rare category? Why all rapists can't be taken to task with castration? what kind of society are we bringing up our daughters...

India must learn to value her women because it is the women who run the farms, the factories, the businesses and commerce so well, so fairly and this is what the Western countries expect of India, of all the countries they deal with. India cannot afford to treat her women so badly.

indian men are pigs, I had an indian taxi driver texting whilst driviing, I asked him not to and he gave me a look like he was going to cut my throat and started purposely driving eratically. apparently if I have a problem with this that makes me a racist. not surprised they treat their women like rubbish.

Violence against women is not confined to India. The difference is the laws in other Countries are more enforceable to protect women's rights but even so, they are fairly recent laws less than 30 years old in UK..it was not a crime to beat your wife until the Domestic Violence Act came in force in the early nineties.

Violence is evil. Rape is Evil.
But to have a government which has not done anything to curb the evils, rather act violently against protesters by way of tear gas, lathi charge, water canon is a bigger evil , which perpetuates crimes like rape openly. A Prime minister who took 7 days of intense protest to come out and give a statement, a speech which was so uninvolved and diplomatic and lacked real concern. A government who nurtures a corrupt police force.
We do have patriots in the country, we only need them to come to the fore and lead us.

The girl died today. I am feeling very sad. More women have been raped in the meanwhile, including a 3yrs old child. And another girl killed herself out of fear and shame. And this is nothing new. The people of the country have waken up. Will the govt wake up now.
Today the protesters laid themselves on the ground to say that the govt is sleeping.....

SAD...very much so...my heart tears...we must honor all the women in the world. Actions to unequivocally make the government take action must take root by its people and the citizens worldwide...
