EVERY animal DESERVES love, care and RESPECT - and to live in an environment that is suited to their specific needs - away from selfish, greedy, thoughtless humans. God bless ALL animals! xo xo xo xo xo xo.

I ask you, what would out world be like without the creatures of the earth? Think about that. God gave us all the natural beauty to enjoy, and all we seem to do is exploit iy, or send it to the very brink of extinction. SAVE OUR WILD LIFE!

Just like those blood thirsty Aussies who go out and butcher Kangaroos and Koala Bears right? Don't fall to the hype. The only one's allowed to hunt the Polar Bears are the Inuit who have been doing it for generations for food and protection.

Michael - you make it sound like it's only the Inuit who hunt (and eat?) the seals too.

And to address your argument that there is no sport hunting going on: "hunters are also allowed to allocate a number of hunting tags to non-resident sport hunters, who are guided on a polar bear hunt by local Inuit hunters for fees that are normally in the range of $18 000 to $20 000 per hunt." http://www.hww.ca/en/species/mammals/polar-bear.html

Michael Hartford, I hear you! But if the Polar Bear is at risk, then there should not be any excuse to kill them... not for food, and nor for protection. Lets face it, those who live in the Polar Bear's habitat should get the hell out of there 'for their own protection' and move south, where they can live productive lives; and 'grow' or 'buy' their food like real humans... and maybe visit the beach, walk in the parks, picnic and holiday, etc, etc.

The Canadian government is ruthless in supporting the murder of wildlife for the profiteering hunters who sell the pelts. The world community has been signing petitions for years, against the annual and very cruel seal hunts. So now it's polar bears too... They'd be better off tossing a few bucks at these hunters, and leaving wildlife to live in their natural states, and in peace.

I am a Canadian, and I do agree with the Canadian Goverment and the seal slaughter but they are not ruthless in all areas, we do have alot of laws that protect animals and have many sanctuarys. The goverment does intervine in many areas. Please don't make us out to look like ruthless killers. The Polar Bears are dying because of global warming, not the goverment.. Global warming is because of everyone living on this planet not taking care of it. Not one goverment.

The hunting of Polar Bears is ONLY allowed by the Inuit who have always eaten them during the long winters in the far north. Even Alaska and Russia allow this but the media and sites like this are painting Canada in a bad light unfairly. We are not running safari's out onto the tundra for sports hunters not is the seal hunt for sports hunters. If you talk with the Inuit, who actually live there, the population is actually up from a couple of generations ago. As for the global warming...

As for the global warming debate the ice pack is larger and the the temp cooler than it was globally than it was in the dark ages. There is also evidence of cross-breeding with other bears across the Canadian Shield. Polar Bears are a huge issue in my household and we work with organizations that protect and monitor them. Trying doing research and finding the facts BEFORE opening your mouth or jumping on another hyped up bandwagon.

Michael Hartford I agree with looking up the facts before jumping to conclusions. I checked out Environment Canada's website, which seems to disagree with you: "Declines are partly attributed to climate change for western Hudson Bay (Nunavut and Manitoba) and the southern Beaufort Sea (Northwest Territories), but are mostly due to unsustainable harvesting in Kane Basin and Baffin Bay (Nunavut)." http://bit.ly/UXCwc2
And to address your argument that there is no sport hunting going on:...

Dian, if you are a Canadian, then you should stay calm and take it easy . it is a debate for the positive and good causes . life is a fundamental right for both animals and humans . cruelity shouldnt be a granted right to people whatever thier nationality to justify killing animals .
what is going in in the world is disgusting and byond imagination .
