I liived in New Dorp Beach for many years and was there when we got the first Hurricane storm. We survived that, and I feel really bad for all the people in NY & NJ who are going through these sad and harsh timesl. It shouldn't bother you Mayor Bloomberg about these tents that are helping hundreds of people. You go home to a nice warm Mansion every night. Leave the tents where they are and don't shut them down. These people will suffer more hardships if they have no where to turn.
it sickens me that the Mayor wants to harass the Cedar grove community. Always in the name of "public safety" he continuously targets these independent efforts to do the work that HE WON'T DO! We need to stand with this community, form blockades if need be. Protect this space, it is the lifeline for that area!
Once again Staten Island is the forgotten borough! I am a native Staten Islander going back 4 generations and it never fails that in a time of need city officials forget about us. I live in North Carolina now and the news isn't even making it here as to how bad it really is, if it weren't for family that have been devastated by this storm we wouldn't have any information, NY City and NY State you should be ashamed of yourselves.
I grew up down New Dorp Beach. This is my home town. I am a Staten Islander. My parents, brother, sister, aunt and cousin all had substantial damage to their homes and all reside down New Dorp Beach. Mayor Bloomberg, my family has always been hard working, honest citizens. We need your help. Please stop all of this red tape and help my family and their neighbors before more lives are lost because of lack of social services. This type of situation should not be happening in a borough...

This type of situation should not be happening in a borough of New York City. These people deserve a place to go to stay warm and be fed. We help other countries yet people are living in deplorable conditions down New Dorp Beach. Not everyone has money to pay for another apartment as they still have to pay mortgage on a home that is not even livable and might not have family members to assist them. Please show compassion and leave these hubs open and start sending more help directly to the residents of Staten Island.
Please sign you have to know about this disaster.
Leave it to ineffective government to step in where effective local work is being done. NYC had better step up to the plate and start supporting, not harassing its community leaders.
I am a former NY"er, we as a country,, have to stop helping everyone oversea, and strart taking care of our own now....Mayor Broomburg, I always felt you were the people's man...Please help these people, with winter coming...they need your help...think of alll those children, that won't have a Christmas Holiday , all they want to is to go home were it is safe and warm....
Here in SF we will know (and have known) all too well what NYC is going through. Watching the work of Occupy Sandy Relief through Facebook has been nothing short of inspirational. Keep the hub open!
I hope we in SF will find the same support and community when the big one hits. Simply by watching Occupy Sandy and all of the volunteers in post-Sandy hard-hit communities, I know I'll be inspired to follow suit when my neighborhood is affected. And know better than to rely on FEMA etc.
I grew up in NEW DORP BEACH please help these people.
