Hi Becky - It's ironic that your post is right below mine and I see where you work. As I listened to President Obama's beautiful remarks during the memorial on Sunday, I asked myself what I could be doing to directly help children. And, I thought of the Boys and Girls Clubs. I have a long history of working in non profits and would like to see how I could possibly work with them. I live in Chicago. Do you know anyone here I could contact? What do you do for them?

Hi, I was thinking the same thing today and my idea was to raise money for the families to pay for funeral costs, especially of the children. I mean very few people have life insurance on their babies. Those costs at short notice can be extremely expensive. They families shouldn't have to worry about a penny of financial burden. while handling this most painful burden. There should be a fundraiser. I live in Maryland and wanted to start one here and start collecting money, but I don't know...

Laura and Leah if you want to help in a tangible way, then please support causes that increase research and care for the mentally ill. The problem of violence by young men who are mentally ill is increasing. As a country, we need to find out why and try to help them and protect ourselves and our children.

This is why i send my children to a christian school, prayer never hurt anyone I dont understand why they took it out. sure it costs more to send them there, but its a small price to pay to be enriched with prayer daily and memory versus from the bible..

God Bless America and all His Children! I am a teacher at a public school. I will be joining in the moment of silence on Friday, just as I did on Monday! I have been praying for the families of those taken Home to our Heavenly Father. In all the work I've done with Youth Groups at church for many, many years I have always told the youth that you CAN PRAY in school. No one can stop you from praying anytime, anywhere. It does not matter if you attend a public or private school, pray. ...

PRAYER IN SCHOOL....YES. Evil abounds all around our children. Dear Lord I pray that you awaken this nation from their sleep, What does it take for this nation to see that it is evil that destroys and kills our children, not prayer and Christian values. God please place your arms around each Mom, Dad and loved one of those slain in Newtown, Conn. May they receive peace knowing that those babies are at rest in their Father's arms.

Spirituality, love, kindness and understanding is needed but don't let fear waiver moral beliefs like separation of church and state. Pray for the loved ones of those lost.

Amen Karen! It doesn't matter where you are, private or public school. You can pray and talk with your heavenly father all the time. God hears your prayers no matter where you are! I pledge to remember those precious children, teachers, and families this Friday. I too like the idea of taking my 3 sons and doing something to help others on Friday also. May we stand and show evil that God will always conquer all! God bless those who are mourning!

TOO LATE!!! Read what Ravi Zacharias has to say:The storms that await us will sink this nation beyond recognition if we do not awaken to the rapid repudiation of the values that shaped this nation.

I also have been praying and crying for the children as well as the adults that lost their lives that awful day.Children that will never have children of their own and adults as well.I only have one question...WHEN DOES THE MADNESS STOP...WE CAN'T STOP IT.WE ARE EVOLVING AS A NATION BUT DEVOLVING AS INDIVIDUAL PEOPLE.I'm hurt but more angry.People have said don't hold anger in heart but in this and many more instances it's hard not too.<3
