It is critical to put in place strict laws against Animal Cruelty. The extreme lack of morals today is a constant reminder. Every day someone tortures pets. The lack of morals allows them to commit violent acts against animals. I have never seen such a lack of compassion, empathy, and responsibility as it is today. This spiral down is of great concern and should be to all in our country. Another big problem is that many Parents aren’t teaching their children compassion and empathy...

The lack of morals allows them to commit violent acts against animals. I have never seen such a lack of compassion, empathy, and responsibility as it is today. This spiral down is of great concern and should be to all in our country. Another big problem is that many Parents aren’t teaching their children compassion and empathy either. Parents can not always be used as Role Models. The high amount of animal abuse and torture is having a very bad impact on the Youth of today. You can tell a lot about a person by the way they treat animals and that has been proven. Pet abuse, torture, and killing is very high today and at the same time Child abuse and death is the highest today. Animal Abuse needs to be taken seriously. It is proven that any person able to do such evil acts to a harmless pet, will do the same with people. The most Vulnerable Victims are children and animals. This is a subject that must be dealt with for the safety of all. People that feel nothing about other living creatures can’t be trusted in Society.

you are right: animals should not be at the mercy of each states attitudes about their rights: as with many other right, the right to marry someone of another race, slavery etc IF left up to the whim of people in different states many oppressed people would have never ever been given their rights....it's also true with animals: there needs to be tough goverment laws on abuse that every state has to abide by or else.

I feel the same. Makes me ashamed to be the same species as those low life scum. My little angels are so precious to me. I'd do anything for them, and they would for me.

I have to disagree about IL being a good state. I live here and never hear of any one getting harsh punishment. Some of the things that happen and go unpunished are horrible.

17 U.S. states make beastiality a felony. They are: Alaska, Arizona, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia and Washington.

Fourteen states consider it a misdemeanor, those being: Arkansas, California, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Utah and Wisconsin.

That means the remaining 19 states, and DC, have no laws prohibiting this type of animal abuse. And bondage and rape in animal brothels is common. Please sign this petition to strengthen the laws against animal rape in the United States: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/250/128/414/ban-beastiality-in-the-united-states/.
