Pres. Thomas Jefferson wrote the Danbury Baptists a letter - not a law or an executive order - stating that Amendment I, "that Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,” built a wall of separation between Church & State. Pres. Thomas Jefferson wrote the Danbury Baptists a letter - not a law or an executive order - stating that Amendment I, "that Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,” built a wall of separation between Church & State. Obviously, the First Amendment restrained only Congress, which later extended to "the State," the United States and any agency of government. But Amendment I laid no duty or constraint upon the Church. That would have turned the free exercise clause on its head. So don't blame Pres. Jefferson. The blame for "secular America" clearly falls upon Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black, who twisted Amendment I and Pres. Jefferson's "wall of separation" to mean, "that Christianity, the Church, and religion shall not meddle in government, etc.."I would be honored to sign a petition seeking to return state-sanctioned public prayer to public schools. But this petition doesn't even specify that as its object.

Yes, I would like to share something interesting with you all. China recently conducted a study as to what made America the greatest nation in the world. They looked ant economics, government, diversity, and everything they could think of. Their conclusion was quite simple:" It is their belief and faith in God". Now if China can conclude that what are some of your problems?

Uhh, the fact that we were founded as a secular nation is my problem with this.

Where are your links to these Chinese "studies"? I do not believe your false claims of, "...faith in god."

GOD IS SO GOOD TO US. WHY WOULD WE NOT WANT HIM IN OUR LIFE AND IN THE SCHOOL WITH OUR CHILDREN? I LOVE THE LORD. I DONT LIKE TO THINK OF WHAT MY LIFE WOULD BE LIKE WITHOUT HIM . HE IS MY BEST FRIEND .

The people who don't pray are the fastest growing minority in the country. Just so you know.

Perhaps those of you who really don't believe that there really is only one God. Would search yourself and that longing need that is in us for that something to be in our life, nothing that we have tried or bought has had a lasting effect . NOTHING !

By the way, the U.S. Constitution makes absolutely no mention of God. Matter of fact, the U.S. Constitution provided for a separation of church and state ("no religious test..."). The founding fathers did NOT put "In God We Trust" on U.S. coins. That was added in 1863, during the time of the Civil War. "In God We Trust" wasn't added to paper currency until 1957. The words "under God" weren't part of the original Pledge of Allegiance. They were added by congress in 1954, as a fuck you to...

Kevin maybe the Constitution doesn't mention God but the Bible does. I'm taking the time to write to you Kevin , Because I care about you, Not because I wish to be argumentative. So please take a minute to listen. Although the Bible cannot be proven 100%, It can be proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. All of the prophecies in the Old Testament Have happened exactly the way God said they would. Therefore we have no reason to believe that what the Bible says will happen in the future won't ....

Kevin please please take time to investigate the Bible what God says is true. I'm sure you would agree most people spend more time planning their vacation every year than they do planning their eternal destination. I love you brother in Jesus Christ

Honestly, I wish for prayer /not/ to be brought back into the education system. Note that I have been raised as a Catholic. Freedom of belief is specifically in the amendments, and prayer in school couldn't be brought back no matter how hard you tried. Schools will be naturally diverse, with Christians, Muslims, Athiests, etc. If you want your children to be brought up into a religious education, bring them to a private religious school.
