While I most assuredly agree that our schools need to be safer, I don't think adding more guns to the equation is the answer. We can make our schools safety by doing any of the following:
1. As parents we should try to get to know each other so if we see someone we don't recognize, we can report that persons presence to the proper authorities.
2. Parents & persons authorized to pick up should be required to present a school issued picture ID.
3. Students, staff, parents, & visitors should be...

While I most assuredly agree that our schools need to be safer, I don't think adding more guns to the equation is the answer. We can make our schools safety by doing any of the following:
1. As parents we should try to get to know each other so if we see someone we don't recognize, we can report that persons presence to the proper authorities.
2. Parents & persons authorized to pick up should be required to present a school issued picture ID.
3. Students, staff, parents, & visitors should be required to pass thru a metal detector upon entering the school.
3. Access to school during normal hours should be restricted to the main office or a lobby.
4. Staff should work with local authorities to devise drills & a plan of action to avert these kinds of tragedies.
4. Form a neighborhood watch group made up of members of the community to keep an eye out for suspicious activity & alert the proper authorities if they do see anything.
