This is what they do in the Philippines, and I agree this is what we need in the US.

I believe everyone is going to have their own thoughts and views. Wht has happened is he and all of these terrible pple have struck fear w/in all of us. We need to enable people to defend themselves against threats until law enforcement officials can arrive. Pray for the victims but lets stop more from becoming harmed. Train defense teams wherever we have soft targets to neutralize immediate threats until law enforcement can arrive on scene.

This is perhaps the stupidest thing I have read in a while. With education budgets being slashed right and left, teachers losing their jobs, children being placed in classrooms of upwards of 30-40 students, specials being cut (art, gym, music), there is no money for anything like this. To do what this absurd petition asks would cost a SMALL community over a half million dollars a year. To do what this absurd petition asks would cost a SMALL community over a half million dollars a year. I work in an inner city school, we work closely with the local police officers but there are no "armed guards". And we DO have metal detectors. We have since the Columbine shootings. Ya know what? No one uses them because they are useless. The CT shooter shot his way into the school no metal detector would have stopped him. I understand people are concerned, but wasting tax dollars on "feel good" measures will only cripple our educational system further.

Everyone has either children of their own attending school or has family doing do whether is your cousin nephew aunt or uncle we shouldn't have to worry what our children are doing in school other than getting their education school should be the safest place for our children not a place they fear of I don't believe guns should be banned only because their will always be a way to find one but probably have stricter gun laws as well as more security in school campuses no child should go to school thinking whether they'll get hurt or not

The only thing I would like to add here is that children all over the world (not just here in CT) need our help to keep them safe, healthy, and happy. Children in war-torn cuntries like Syria, Somalia, Pakistan, and Afghanistan (just to name a few) are needlessly murdered every second of every day, so while you are mourning the lost souls from Sandy Hook...please also mourn the lost souls of children everywhere.
