I would sign the petition gladly. Unfortunately your app wants to post on my behalf and that is something I do NOT agree with. If you are SERIOUS about what you are saying and TRULY wish for the petition to collect as many signatures as possible then DO THE RIGHT THING and don't condition us to allow you to post on our behalf!

Doctors in Canada do not make a cent for prescribing, and we are not given any perks by drugs companies with the exception of an occasional pen with a company logo, or possibly food at an educational seminar. This petition is inflammatory and dishonest. drbob

I have a problem with the premiss... semantics, implications, assumptions, and jumping to conclusions are all disengaging to me...

As I said before, such a practice is already illegal, unethical, and wrong on so many levels....

I absolutely support the idea behind this. There IS an unholy and destructive alliance between the drug companies and a significant number of doctors, and it is obviously open to exteme abuse. BUT like Lisa Ollman Mair I do not want to let the app that underlies the petition have free reign and, in some instances, and for good reasons personally, I do not want a particular item to post on my FB page. I keep encountering this problem with online petitions. A person can't give support to a...

A person can't give support to a good cause or, in other cases, donate funds, without accepting such 'conditions.' Can't all obviously well-intentioned persons inside this process wake up to and correct this by making the app acceptances and FB posts OPTIONAL?

If you really want people to sign these petitions, respect their privacy and don't impose conditions.

I don't sign petitions that contain little or no detail. What jurisdiction are we talking about? Which government or "medical system"? Who is paying these docs to write prescriptions? Do you have any reliable stats to back up your accusations?

Depends on what is considered a kick back....drug companies sponsor retreats/meetings to high end resorts for doctors on a regular annual basis. Depends on what is considered a kick back....drug companies sponsor retreats/meetings to high end resorts for doctors on a regular annual basis. I consider that a benefit and bribe by the drug companies to the doctors for pedaling their drugs...making doctors more than drug dealers like the drug cartel. There are other benefits that doctors receive from drug companies as well....like free samples to give out like candy to patiences like guinea pigs as a pre request to writing a prescription with the verbal warning to NEVER stop taking the drug or derogatory health/life consequences will occur...again no better than drug dealers. Yes it is true that Health Insurance Companies have their stake in all this too...but that is soon to be altered drastically with absolute total government control of EVERYONE'S health care...I don't know about you but I pick anything over total government control...the government has not proved to the American people they can responsibly and efficiently oversee and run a dang thing in this country not even there own jobs...besides the big drug companies are in bed with government, right? The doctors should be accountable and responsible if they go along with acts that violate their Hippocratic oath to DO NO HARM! It is the doctors that are responsible for over labeling millions of children with ADD/ADHD and prescribing psychotropic adult drugs to children and teens without responsible research nor knowing the long term effects on these children and teens. The same doctors over medicate the elderly too, creating more health issues with the side effects of those drugs. SOMEONE HAS TO BE RESPONSIBLE AND ACCOUNTABLE!

It IS illegal, in America at least, for doctors to make profits, but they are courted and given trips, gifts and other things. THAT should be illegal.
