As far as I know it is illegal for doctors to get kick backs from drug companies or anyone else. As far as overmedicating patients, you should turn your attention to the health insurance companies. The insurance companies are setting the guidelines for ordering test and referring patients to specialist. As far as I know it is illegal for doctors to get kick backs from drug companies or anyone else. As far as overmedicating patients, you should turn your attention to the health insurance companies. The insurance companies are setting the guidelines for ordering test and referring patients to specialist. Different areas and different states differ in the amount of "managed care" is in there area of practice but even in the areas with minimal "managed care" the insurance companies are making the decisions and health care choices for your health not your Doctor. They accomplish this many different ways and that is another tale for another day. In the area that I practice in Florida, managed care is very heavy. It is as close to socialized medicine as you can get. except its not free or paid for by higher taxes. In my area most of the health insurance companies dictate how you are going to treat patients. The doctors do what they are contracted to do or they don't get paid by the insurance compainies. So if yoyu want to start a movement to real in the power of the insurance companies and put your health decisions back into the hands of your doctor then I will sign it. I just don't feel you are going to accomplish anything by making the doctors the fall guys for a flawed system.
Is it just the insurance companies or are they themselves being controlled by government? All this stuff is so frustrating.
Last I was aware, doctors also receive kick backs. It's a way for drug companies to advertise essentially. (This is coming from working in the prescription drug insurance processing industry.)
I would sign the petition gladly. Unfortunately your app wants to post on my behalf and that is something I do NOT agree with. If you are SERIOUS about what you are saying and TRULY wish for the petition to collect as many signatures as possible then DO THE RIGHT THING and don't condition us to allow you to post on our behalf!
I see over medication taking place the older generation are lined up in drug store where ever you go , never question why or what their drugs will do to them.
Totally agree. Monsanto is dangerous. They need to be stopped. Elect different minded politicians who are willing to take the right action. The situation with Pharmaceutical companies and GPs' is also very dangerous and not in line with our modern society. Humans are so afraid to change. However, our the cost of healthcare could be reduced so much with a change in the attitude of your GP, which will only happen with a change in legislation. Just my humble opinion.
I SO support this. As long as physicians get any kickback from these damned drug companies, there can be no altruism in medicine. Years ago my family doctor was forever giving me prescriptions for various drugs, and openly told me that there were big financial benefits for him from the drug companies. He certainly had lots of very costly "presents" given to him by the reps.
I wonder why my signature is not showing? I just signed this Petition.
Please fix typo on "specialists"!
Doctors in Canada do not make a cent for prescribing, and we are not given any perks by drugs companies with the exception of an occasional pen with a company logo, or possibly food at an educational seminar. This petition is inflammatory and dishonest. drbob
Yes but you don't try to help anyone with alternatives you have to make your money some how. Oh and my friends hubby is a doctor and has to go to drug company meeting ofter meeting. So U know I think its BS!!!!!
I am sorry, Bob - I think I put it on your wall. I shall be a bit more careful.
I have a problem with the premiss... semantics, implications, assumptions, and jumping to conclusions are all disengaging to me...
As I said before, such a practice is already illegal, unethical, and wrong on so many levels....
@Floyd Morgan,,, I totally Agree!
