It has been suggested that following the General Election you accepted a bribe from David Cameron to gain a semblance of political power. The claim is that the historical differences between the Conservatives and Liberals would make it utterly impossible for any accord between the two parties. The claim goes on to elaborate on these differences, going back to the Parliaments of Charles II, when the parliamentary parties began to polarise into the Whigs and Tories. I would have to agree on...
I would have to agree on the historical aspects and ask; did you, indeed, accept a bribe from David Cameron? It is suggested that the most blatant act of political corruption took place following the General Election. For my own part, your deal with David Cameron has demonstrated that my vote for the Liberal Democrats was, in fact, a vote for the Conservatives. I believe that you have betrayed a once great political party and shown yourself to be a venal political opportunist.
Although I do not expect a reply, I would advise you that a failure to reply will be taken as an admission of the above claims and will be published. On the other hand, in fairness, any reply which explains your reasoning for joining forces with the Conservatives will be reported upon as well.
Sent to Nick Clegg via his website on 9th February 2013.
I have not received a reply yet. I have applied for an e-petition asking for a parliamentary enquiry into the conduct of the LidDem/Cons at the conclusion of the last Gleneral Election. I have addressed this application to the Leader of the House of Commons. If he refuses to permit the petition, I will allege a conflict of interest upon his part. I will keep everybody posted. This House of Commons is an unelected assembly and the formation of this coalition was nothing less than a coup d’état.
Well said Nick MacDonald, we were Conned by the LibDems, I voted for them because I had no faith in GB and New Labour and would never want another Tory government after Mrs T. Had a Local LibDem around with his leaflets today, after reading I noted several misleading statements about his successes locally, screwed it up and put it in the bin. I can't wait for them to come tapping on my door in 2 years time. I just hope we still have a society left by that time!!!
I, too, voted LibDem because I thought that we needed a change from the two old, tired and discredited parties. But I feel that my vote was stolen. I voted LibDem as a vote AGAINST Labour and the Conservatives. The political carve up carried out by Cameron and Clegg was an abuse of the electorate and the parliamentary process.
I voted the cons (yes they are all a bunch on con artists) and would never have voted libdems so disappointed having said that it has shown the country what I was beginning to believe so hopefully we have all wised up and won't vote for any of the three main parties ... so may be a win all round :) jx
All they are wanting to do is open up council housing to give to immigration.Never mind how long you have lived there, that your friends live around you,(some of these people are elderly and they need their friend around them, weather you have grandchildren staying with you at weekends.Or single fathers having their children staying them when possible.(TRAITORS).
It's got nothing to do with immgrants...It's about an out of touch govrment taking money from the least well off instead of goimg after the tax dodgers both individuals and companies!!
Friends keep inviting me to sign this and to ask others to sign it. That would be fine if I could only find out exactly what's being proposed. Perhaps I missed a headline somewhere. Googling for info on it has so far not enlightened me. If anyone can send me a link to such info I'd be very grateful. Once I understand the apparent injustice of it I'll certainly add my penny-worth of protest and encourage others to join.
this seems to be the offical paper
if the petition reaches 100,000 signatures it forces the government to debate it in parliament, when any petition can get this figure it must be debated in parliament
This petition is too late, this ruling has already been agreed and implementations in place. it starts in less than 2 mths and computer systems have already been programmed
life o benefits is hard enough.I have family that need a place to stay when they visit if I am forced to move they may stop coming as I live in a tourist area and accomodation is expensive.
