Friends keep inviting me to sign this and to ask others to sign it. That would be fine if I could only find out exactly what's being proposed. Perhaps I missed a headline somewhere. Googling for info on it has so far not enlightened me. If anyone can send me a link to such info I'd be very grateful. Once I understand the apparent injustice of it I'll certainly add my penny-worth of protest and encourage others to join.

I think this is the most stupid thing ive ever heard of what about the eldery people its hard enough for them to keep there heat going.. I know of single men that have a council house two bedrooms and they live alone and there wifes have a council house also and they both get benifits. This is pure STUPID just like the GOVERMENT they can sit on there fat ass and get paid good money and all they can think of is hurting good familys GET A GRIP GOVERMENT LOOK ELSE WHERE.

Together with the cuts/none increase in working age benefits it hits the vulnerable and sick as do so many of the current governments policies.

Lorna, I didn't know either but it is a Discretionary Housing Payment. Only a time limited payment that can sometimes help if there is a difference in rent owed and housing benefit paid. I am not sure it will apply in the instance of the benefit changes which come in once the bedroom tax arrives.

I agree with the policy there are families living in over crowded council houses as the bigger homes are already lived in by people whose children have grown up and moved out, it is not your property it belongs to the council they maintain it and subsidise the rent everyone has the right to buy at the end of the day.I myself liked my council house enough to buy it when I was only workimg 16hours a week and lived alone with my daughter its not that hard.

PS: Social housing is not owned by the council or goverment, get your facts right......In the United Kingdom, housing associations are private, non-profit making organisations that provide low-cost "social housing" for people in need of a home. Any trading surplus is used to maintain existing housing and to help finance new homes. Although independent they are regulated by the state and commonly receive public funding. They are now the United Kingdom's major providers of new housing for rent, while many also run shared ownership schemes to help those who cannot afford to buy a home outright.

Housing associations provide a wide range of housing, some managing large estates of housing for families, while the smallest may perhaps manage a single scheme of housing for older people. Much of the supported accommodation in the UK is also provided by Housing Associations, with specialist projects for people with mental health or learning disabilities, with substance misuse problems (alcohol or illegal drugs), the formerly homeless, young people, ex-offenders and women fleeing domestic violence.

The government said to me afew years ago that an adult can live on just over £6 per day. I can't afford to buy meats and fresh fruit and vegetables as they are more expensive than horrible fatty processed foods, therefore I am unable to give my family a healthy diet. Putting up prices on living yet not increasing wages to compensate, causes more debt, loss of homes and business , this is unacceptable, my town centre is like a ghost town with almost as many shops closed as there are open. Town centres used to be a place to go to socialise, but with shops closing , the community spirit is disappearing. SORT THIS OUT. put our countries needs first instead of helping other countries.

An act that the UK government invented and never ratified into UK law until those dastardly Europeans forced us to.

Yesterday the Queen sighed us up to a new Commonwealth version of the same act which we also won’t uphold in our own country but will use as a stick to beat the underdeveloped countries.

As for why Germany is doing so well, they work hard unlike so many in the UK and their government unlike the UK's have not allowed their rich to rape their nation, steal their nations resources or bend the people across the barrel of capitalism and f**k them up the arse like the UK government, who are our 1% are and have done to the UK, its people and it's economy. Wake up folks the only people to benefit from leaving Europe is the same bastards who are turning us over now, their the wolves in sheep clothing who are currently trying to convince you that black is white. That Europe is the energy, when the truth is they are the enemy and they will stuff you and your children once they have conned you into giving up your rights!
