It is a day at a time when our loved ones reach almost 100 yrs. Each day is a blessing if they still have their mobility and reasonably good health. Stay strong David - my life experiences tell me they are always looking out for you.

David, apparently these days if you want a telegram from the Queen for a 100th birthday, you have to apply for it.

You are so right Bob -- the govt., that is Whitehall, Parliament, EU and our Councils forget that the money they play around with is our money, hard earned by the taxpayers of this country - every fringe group and every other nation benefits at the expense of the British Taxpayer. Both Labour and this Conservative-LibDem Govt. have performed atrociously - if this was a 'proper job' they would have been sacked. Now they want us to work into our late 60's and at the same time look after our...

Now they want us to work into our late 60's and at the same time look after our frail and elderly, while doing it. They can offer benefits to everu European and Commonwealth country but they cannot look after their own. They have sold off our Gold Reserves (Gordon Brown) and then bailed out the gross mismanagement of our banks (Gordon Brown) using our money. The banks should have gone to the wall like any other failed businss and young entrepreneurs and new investors would have been delighted to pick up the pieces. Now with the huge deficit which govt have created we the British Taxpayer are made to suffer and pay;yet again - for their failings, yet they think they deserve a 38% increase in salary. I pity the future generations of this country.

Elaine your comments are so true, nobody can blame the Conservatives, Margaret Thatcher gave people the chance to buy their Council Houses so they could give their children a little something..the Labour Government has made our Welfare State and absolute joke..people now expect Welfare as a matter of life, regardless of their situation..I know too many people just grabbing whatever handout there is for them when they are working..Our Grandparents did not work all hours for nothing..when they...

Hi Kay, there is no political agenda to this petition. This cruel injustice to our elderly has been in place for years - across every govt.,Labour, Conservative and Lib-Dems. This is about a wrong and cruel act of discrimination against the elderly taxpayer - we want that put right. All elderly should receive free care in their old-age, if and when they require it, hence Care of the Elderly - without bias. I hope u have signed - we need the support of everyone, in order that future generations will receive free care.

I would love to sign, having shared this already on FB. When I tried to sign just now, a FB pop-up sought permission to use my personal details, AND those of my friends, I declined. This seems to prevent me from completing the signing process. Any advice?

Sorry Ed we must all commit with our details - it hurt me too as I value my 'privacy' however this issue was too important. The only consolation is that you are in good company - the passion about 'what is important' over-rides self. I do hope you and your friends can join us.

We work hard through our lives and pay our taxes and national insurance what happens to all pension money when someone dies just after retirement certainly don't go to surviving spouse so lets treat our elderly with respect and stop these money grabbing governments , Carole.

My Mother should have had all her care home fees paid for as she was terminally ill and was disabled, but she was listed as having social needs only and not care needs. I've written about the scandal in my book 'Mother Becomes Stardust'. If anyone still thinks Britain is a caring country, think again.

This theft of our elderly taxpayers homes and savings has been enforced by Labour and Conservative govts. There is no political agenda here, our govts (ALL) are morally bereft - this is about doing what is right by the frail and elderly - our most vulnerable yet most worthy citizens - having worked and paid their taxes all of their lives are being cruelly discriminated against by govts. past and present.
