I believe that it is our duty to protect all animals, because in many cases they also protect us, although I agree with Susan. H. I also believe that these pictures should be made public , where and when they were taken and published.

I will take the pledge to update the animal control system, but I think you will reach more people if you write up a petition that sounds less like a rant. I feel your anger, but it does take money to operate any kind of shelter, and there are many shelters working hard to keep animals alive and find them homes. I agree that educating and providing spay/neuter help are key, and that euthanasia is an option that can mostly be avoided. Stating facts calmly and proofreading would likely do more...

if others can see the need for this change like you have Linda then it is moot how the wording is ... thank you for signing the pledge ... I am beyond playing by any rules of engagement ... the house is on fire and I want out now .. I don't care who set it .... please please please recruit people ... once there are undeniable numbers I will shut up ... I promise ... it will be time for the numbers people to take over ... I am positive there is absolute corruption involved ... at the expense of innocent lives ....

Linda: Perhaps it's me, but as a studious proofreader, Tony's "rant" is not really off the mark in written presentation and, some passion may be what's needed to motivate the lull in effectiveness with this matter. With groups like PETA, regarded by most to be the pinnacle of animal advocacy, actually in many ways proving worse than public shelters (and justifying their mishaps), there needs to be some eye-opening; a shakeup and regrouping of what's making a difference vs. what is not,...

More like a horror photo........Where was the photo taken......The people doing this should be charged...brought to justice, and end in prison...It is a criminal act....

You're right. Can you believe that PETA themselves does this, too? http://www.nathanwinograd.com/?p=12153

The archaic animal control system that exist throughout the United States needs a dramatic overhaul! Why is there a system that captures, holds, terrorizes and eventually murders healthy animals? Why has this system remained in place for so long? Can the almighty dollar be the motivating force behind the murder of these innocent beings? Why is this a system salaried when so many thousands of volunteers will gladly do the job for love of animals? How many millions of dollars can be saved...

Why is this a system salaried when so many thousands of volunteers will gladly do the job for love of animals? How many millions of dollars can be saved and reinvested in SPAYING, NEUTERING and RELOCATION by making the Animal Control System totally voluntary? Research will need to be done to bring to light the insanity of waste that is presently hidden within the confines of a "safer" public policy.

This kills me, because theirs more people that are advocates for animals than CHILDREN I care for animals just as the next, but what's the need in specific breeding? When there's plenty in shelters. Why are there so many irresponsible pet owners that don't get their animals fixed? It's all preventable! However, It truly saddens Me to know there are more advocates for animals than CHILDREN!

That's nowhere near the truth. More for animals than children. Children get untold billions in support, and their overpopulation and suffering often comes from "irresponsible breeders - their parents" in conditions that are abhorrent to begin with. These animals will never have a voice. But even a neglected child can grow up to become an influential leader and use their experience to effect change. The animals are just butchered and forgotten. There's no gravestone for them.

The reason this petition is slow to grow is that it is too emotionally worded and judgemental of others. I also think it does not propose an adequate, well thought out and implementable alternative. Clearly there are not enough homes for all the unwanted animals, spayed and neutered or not. I signed but it won; be taken seriously by policy makers/changers IMO.

I am so sick of organizations (and people) who say they are sheltering animals but who are actually inhumane in their treatment of animals. What these "humans" do to animals -- let it be done to them.

Rae Noble

Its the overpopulation of humans that is tje real threat!
