Why, Charmaine? Because of the greed of some soulless jerks that don't know what REAL life is about. What kind of planet are they trying to make us live on? Do they even know that we, humans, need and depend on ALL the other species to our own survival? By their actions I guess they don't, so is more than time for them to start paying more attention and learn their lessons better. There is no diplomatic way to say this, but how appalling it is to have hunters jeopardized one of the largest studies on wolves by purposely luring out and killing ten collared Yellowstone wolves! Why? Hunters can clearly see the collars, hunters understand what the collars are, and hunters should be restricted from killing any collared wolves or face stiff penalities. The US Fish and Wildlife Services job is to protect wildlife, so why aren't collared wolves strictly off limits?

Veronica Dickey

Also call 1-800-344-WILD and politely request to the United States Fish and Wildlife Serviices that they need to implement a strict off-limit policy to hunting collared Yellowstone Wolves.

"have hunters jeopardized one of the largest studies on wolves by purposely luring out and killing ten collared Yellowstone wolves"

No one "lured" the wolves out of Yellowstone-that's what they do-they travel and kill prey wherever-ever watch a wolf pack rip a calf out of a cow elk-killing cow and calf? Then leaving both to die without eating any part of either animal?

That is what wolves do-kill just to kill-I've seen it happen dozens of times in the past 10 years or so in NW Montana, and down by Yellowstone-
my family has property there-if the animal "rights" and enviro-nazis had allowed the wolves to be removed from ESA protection when they reached 30 breeding pairs,or 300 animals-which was the original agreement when wolves were re-introduced into the greater Yellowstone area in '95-and let the states manage their own wildlife-then this so-called "problem" would not be happening now.
The "reseachers" just want the gravy train of federal funding to continue-it's ending-wolves ARE NOT ENDANGERED-wolves WILL be managed by hunting-hunting IS the MOST EFFECTIVE wildlife management tool there is-GET OVER IT-wolves ARE NOT cute little furry puppies like the wolf-huggers portray them-they are killing machines-and have harmed big game populations to the point where some may not ever recover.
Enough of the wolf hugger BS-it is wrong to manage one species to the detriment of all other species-
wolves are NOT endagered-the states WILL manage their own wildlife-and that WILL be done by HUNTING wolves.

In this state there is a limit (lottery hunt) which that hunters have to apply for..a special license that limits how many that hunter can kill. They are given "TAGS" so that they cannot over kill. The DNR is here to save all of the animals not just preditors who were also protected and will continue to be. No one wants any animals to become extinct. The DNR protects the animals and the people. Your smear of showing a wolf in a trap and baby wolves is nothing but propaganda and mostly lies. In this state traps are illeagle and those that use them pay HUGE fines and can be put in jail. I called and spoke to a representative at the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and told them that I was not please with the management of the wolves in Yellowstone. I live in Minnesota and I'm also not happy with our wolf management here either. This hunt needs to stop and the management of our wolves handled differently. Possibly by a different group? I don't know the answer but I do know that killing our wolves off is not helping our environment at all.

There is a lot of money behind these decisions from said lobbyists. It always boils down to money unfortunately. The DNR could care less about wolves evidently. And may I add that whenever we reduce the number of our apex predators, we face a myriad of unforeseen harmful resulting effects on our environment. You can't mess with Mother Nature and not pay a price! (And who in their right mind would camp in the middle of wolf country?) I may love wolves and respect their place in the ecosystem but I don't want to be their lunch either. Get a clue Brenda!

It is unfair for anyone that watches movies about wolves that are raised in sanctuaries and zoos. Those animals raised in captivity don't react and respond the same way wild animals do. Also it has been proven that wolves don't mate for life. The males will breed any bitch that comes in heat.
