The very question is offensive! Would anyone ever ask when someone is murdered if it was the murer victims fault? It is NEVER the victims fault!

Do you say the same thing about thieves? It's not the thief's fault, but the victim's? If people decide they want to steal or violate something, they do it. It is not ever the victim's fault. The victim can't control what other people want, think, desire, and do.

Rape is a word with a clearly defined meaning. To Rape is to act without consent. It is to STEAL.
Women, Men, Boys and Girls are raped everyday, but to often they are ignored.
To even consider RAPE is a victims fault is highly offensive.

Having been the Victim of a Monster his friends and one brother I know rape is real and is not the Fault of the Victim... the brother is now working for a school as a Child Devlopment Counselor for Children ages 4 to 12... I was 10 when he raped me telling me that I let dad so I better let him.. He claimes that he does not remember so I must be making it up. That is what he has told family and friends so they will not even talk to me.

I don't think the victim is ever at fault. The rapist *always* has the power to make the final decision: Do I or don't I?

I do, however, believe some (*some*) victims could have been more circumspect regarding their behavior in certain scenarios. Would it have ensured they would not be raped? No, by no means. But it might have stacked the odds a bit more in their favor.

Because, in the end, women aren't mindless, defenseless creatures who need "endangered species" status. It's up to us...

it can't be up to us. we are not raping each other.
it is up to the man to not rape, and more importantly, the society to not help them get away with it by saying it is up to women to stop their own attacks. women are raped wearing burkas, nun habits, sweats, and parkas. they are most often raped in their own home or the home of a friend where they should reasonably expect to be safe. men are told from boyhood "she asked for it" and what that translates to is " you can get away with it,...

this is not about women - we are just the targets. it is about men, and until men take responsibility for how they talk, how they act and what they do, and how all of that affects women, women will continue to be raped.
and blamed for it.
