I lived in deerpark my childhood and I cant count how many times my brother dennis took me fishing at fire Island. It was some of the best times of my life.So the least I could do is donate to something that will always be some of the best memories of my childhood. So I support the hurricane sandy relief effort on FIRE ISLAND.

I grew up on the south shore and have Long Beach and Fire Island sand in my shoes and in my heart.... and sadly since Sandy, now in my home, in my car, in my hair and in our stores and restaurants but I love every grain of it. As has been in the past, the choice to dredge the inlet has been ongoing and marked with controversy... for years we have listened to the pros and cons. Sadly it has now become critical. It must be done for the protection of not only the residents of Fire Island but also the entire south shore... it is called a barrier beach/island for a reason and 200,000 south shore residents are dependent upon it. Please dredge and save our shoreline!
