I'm not sure this is a federal issue where petitioning obama is the right action. Wouldn't this be at a state level or county level?

You are correct in what you have said..HOWEVER...i am trying to cover all bases where possible! Pres Obama has stated that he wants his new Government to be more accessible and open..so lets all give him a go! No one can ever fault us for trying. Ive got many other campaigns going which target council leaders and state Governments. Thankyou J

Sadly Obama and his administration do not exactly seem concerned with animal welfare! Since he's been in office many of the safeguard for wildlife have been removed. I can only hope that the vile acts that you describe in your letter to him might get his attention. The fight must go on.

I resent these kind of comments against the Obama Administration. He and his administration DO care about these issues - this is an extremely important issue - and I am sure that it will be addressed in time. There is only so much that can be addressed at one time and I'm sure it is in his list of many urgent priorities.

There is a 2500 character limit when emailing the President and your suggested letter is longer than that.

Why is it that animals have to suffer at the hands of man. When a criminal, kills, rape, steals, mass murders, or mutilates another human, they get life in jail with 3 square meals a day, a bed to sleep in, a gym to pump iron, b-ball to play and living like a royalty when an animal has done nothing but get gassed only because no one wants them. Where is the justice for this beautiful creation of GOD. The only animal NOT going extinct is MAN. Gee I wonder why.

Very well said Wanda. I do hope that this President will waste no time in passing Mary's Law, which is so very long overdue in USA, as well as Canada & every other country. Such a shining example this would be to the whole world!!! Mahatma Gandhi left such a wonderfu legacy and Barack Obama could do the same if only for this change during his second term. My sincere hope is that he will accept this challenge & champion this mandate without delay!!!!

I just returned from a cruise of the Caribbean. You could eat off the streets they were so clean. I was however very appalled by the treatment of their dogs. All female, all lactating, all waring collars, all so skinny you could count their poor ribs It was like this on every Island I went to. I do hope world wide we can protect all the animals from any type of cruelty. Even elephants, gorillas, rhinos, big cats etc. We need to stop fighting each other and start healing this beautiful world before we destroy all it's beauty.

yes- how about we start with telling Pres. Obama to take child killing seriously - so much hate for the unborn and partially born. Is it possible that this pro-death president would take seriously animal cruelty?

La crueldad hacia cualquier tipo de animales deve ser castigado como cualquier otro crimen...

I'm afraid if Obama wants to go to other countries to tell them how to treat animals and that they should work to prevent the cruel provision of wild animal body parts, such as ivory, he needs to get his own house I order back in the USA.

Katie Chalmers I agree,Katie, people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. It would be a tad bit hypocritical of us to tell other countries what to do with their animals when we obviously can't look after our own.
