If there's one memory I have never forgotten It is my time over in Vietnam.9 Yr.Old kid. If I still remember those years, I can relate to those young Brothers going thru it now. They have not really took care of us. Took years of B.S. to even get a look at what the whole experience has done to our generation. Please don't allow them to do it again. You have my support.

We owe our veterans the very best- not are wounds are visible. My son was killed in action in Iraq, but I know that he was disillusioned by the war. He may have needed help dealing with this when he came home, I would hope that as much effort to help him at the time would have been available to him as the efforts were to save his live in Iraq.

I am a veteran myself & also work for the va in Poplar Bluff mo... we don't have wait lists. You CANT blame just the VA. If a veteran is in crisis they WILL be seen.

Not everywhere. I personally have been waiting to get in to CBT treatment for PTSD for two years. My husband, also a veteran, repeatedly requested one-on-one therapy and was ignored. My friend Ryan died three months in to a six month waiting list to get in to mental health. Popular Bluff, MO, has a much smaller population than VA's in metropolitan areas who are completely swamped with patients and drastically under-funded. No one here is blaming the VA. We are simply asking for the federal government to stop the budget cuts to mental health and to instead increase funding for VA healthcare so that additional mental health and medical providers can be hired. There are simply not enough medical and mental health professionals to accommodate the high number of patients in many areas.

Glad to do this for all of our Men and Women who served in the Military... It is terrible how they make the Vets wait to see the doctors for appointments for anything.... My Daughter is a Disabled Vet from the U.S. Navy and you would think they would help her much faster, That is just a joke....... Please help however you can, and SOON!

I hear that, my son is disabled from the army.

I am a mom of a veteran, I can attest to the long wait times over 3 months for primary care and wait times up to 6 months if you need a specialist if they even approve it. It is time to let those know that are in charge of our VA system that they are NEGLECTING our VETERANS and something needs to be done about it!

I volunteer for the VFW on the weekends that I'm not working. And I speak to vets that are hurt and should file a disability claim and most of them say give the money to someone worse off than me. I tell them. That every veteran who fought to save this country needs to file because that is the only way that Obama will look our way and see that their is a serious problem. And it makes me sick to here politicians and the news give there personal opinion on subjects that they have absolutly no idea

EVEN THOUGH I DON'T SUPPORT THE WAR, there are some U.S soldiers who regret being involved in the injustice, and are actually victims of this illegal war in Iraq and Afghanistan. I don't know whether white house petitions would help solve the issue, but I'm just hoping for the best as usual. Please share this with as many people as possible. Your friends, relatives, everyone that you know. You don't have to be an American to get involved.

"At least 23,000 veterans (ex-soldiers) and service members have died by suicide, according to data reported in 2008 by the U.S. Center for Disease Control and the Department of Veterans Affairs. The Center for a New American Security titled, “Upholding the Promise: A Strategy for Veterans and Military,” says the president must confront two serious problems on veterans issues: rampant suicides and more than a million unprocessed veterans benefits claims, mostly filed by combat-wounded men and women who volunteered to fight for America during the two military campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan." https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/improvements-va-healthcare-system-effort-lower-rate-veteran-suicides/rwT90HWC.

Lets not forget Cold War Veterans and Peace time veterans that have injuries or disease that is service connected. The claims process back-log is a shame. It is really shameful and does not look very good on the Department of Veterans Affairs when a veteran can get Social Security Benefits faster than VA Compensation.

There was some good to be gleaned from a bad situation, many of us through our contact with the people in Muslim countries discovered most are good moral people who simply are not like the main stream media portrays them. Many upon returning and realizing the truth behind the war and witnessing the horror, especially during the invasion when the heaviest use of air power and missiles occurred, simply were tormented by the fact they were used to perpetrate a lie and felt suicide was the only way to escape the guilt.

As a Combat Veteran with PTSD the VA has done everything to deny and delay my claims, 2 years and 8 days in appeal process and nothing being done, these are the reasons so many Veterans take their own lives, they feel the VA is turning their backs on the Veteran, its a shame but Illegal Imigrants get better health care than Veterans who served their Country on lower wages than the Median income and in a Combat zone none the less....

They are still "evaluating [my] claim" for my marriage. My husband and I were married two and a half years ago. Several of my friends have taken their lives since we've returned. If there's money for "Obamacare" then there is money for the VA. Our country needs to get its priorities straight.

PTSD is rampant with the young gentlemen also! If they would screen them when they return and have a follow up visit later maybe this could be detected and taken care of. They are so excited to be home that the few questions they are asked, of course they will lie so they aren't detained any longer from seeing their loved ones! Something has to be done....NOW!! Before we lose many more of our loved ones!
