Sad that there are many in health care that view most who use opiate pain meds legitimately as less than honorable. I have personally seen fellow nurses dismiss a patients pain as THEY did not believe the patients report to be "accurate". Its not up to Nurses, Pharmacy employees to determine. DEFINITELY not up to a NON MEDICALLY TRAINED elected "official" to determine appropriate treatment for a foot fungus let alone PAIN. Not up to the think they know everything masses either. Keep to what they are TRAINED for. We don't see politicians or strangers questioning and passing laws against CHEMO TREATMENTS!

absolutely true---we dont need regulations and guidelines we need governement out of our health care--i cant get a dr to take me even when taking new pts wont take me --dont even know me--when i call they ask if u r a chronic pt or sometimes a chronic pain pt--if u say yes they wont take u in as a patient----severe pain daily multiple issues--we all deserve trtmnt for these horrible diseases---let our drs treat on an individual basis--this is why ppl want the government out of our decisions...

17 years of standing by my husbands struggle and I know exactly what you mean. There are too many cooks in this soup, too many dead ends and there is just so much that the govt needs to keep the hell out of. Even the smartest of people dont know EVERYTHING. Sorry that there are so many that struggle. Those of us who are "healthy" there are some of us that stand with you and fight or your cause, that I think is important for those who are struggling with this or any illness to know. There...

There arent nearly enough of us out there I am afraid, but we are there.

I had severe chronic pain from peripheral neropathy for a few years. I started drinking Aloe Vera Juice as of Mothers Day this year. I drink it everyday in my juice drink and all of the inflammation is gone, which as you know causes the pain. I also have Facet joint disease, however, I do not take any kind of pain medications at all and no longer go for injections in my lumbar spine. It is not a complete cure, but it sure helped me a lot. I buy it in Walmart for $7.44 a gallon, which lasts about 2 to 3 months.

I understand this issue since my dr refuses to refill my pain meds due to influence by insurance company. My quality of life is suffering but I push on because I have to.

We who suffer from fibromyalgia and other chronic, invisible pain conditions desperately need understanding! We live with pain each and every day of our lives. Please make sure that patients with chronic pain have the right to adequate pain management, it’s important it can improve our quality of life! We deserve to be treated fairly! Thank you!

Hi Sherry, just read your comment and can relate so much. You explained the way I feel everyday.I felt alone with this because no believes fibromyalgia is even a condition. Some doctors have said I have it but then some don't.The doctors won't give me anything for pain. The over the counter meds do nothing but hurt my stomach.I am at my wits end with this.I am 61 and hate everyday that I wake.Nothing is important or worth this and to think I will only get worse till the end is no comfort.I hope that something changes for us soon.Kathy

I think we need to go much, much farther than just this. I'm sorry but big pharma wields a lot of power, and we need new and MUCH more effective treatments for pain than what our current stone age medicine offers us. I can take enough morphine to kill a herd of elephants, and there is not one iota of exaggeration in that statement. We need better medical practices, and a more focus on holistic care. Diet alone would do so much for the treatment of pain. I refuse to let my diseases take...

Two husbands, two sisters, one brother, one best friend have suffered from chronic pain for over a decade. It is only been since the 1900's opiates were even regulated. It's all about the bottom line..$$$ and legislating other's morals. Pharmaceutical companies, FDA, DEA all know what's best for us now!

my doctor informed me that she already has 54% on pain pills , and dea only allows 50%, not fair, I had to move and get a new doctor only to be told this, so while I am ion pain , getting very little sleep , until she weens 4 % off and hopefully I will get to be put on.

I am a mother of 3 children who also has fobromyalgia and arthritis. I take 2 perscriptions a day. One is for fibro and the other is an anti-inflamatory for arthritis that is in my hips making it excruciating to stand, sit or lay down for any real length of time. I am denied amything for my pain because I have fibromyalgia and must therefore be med seeking. In all my life I have endured the worst pains such as giving birth by c-sect (three times)and refusing to take PRESCRIBED TO ME pain...

Now when I am in so much pain and ask for a little relief so I can sleep or care for my children I am told no because of my diagnosis. Do I really sound like a seeker?
